Living With Klinefelter Syndrome, Here's my story.

Living With Klinefelter Syndrome, Heres my story.

I was always very Very thin growing up, When i was 12 years old i was hospitalized for my weight, I was losing it rapidly, was also having issues eating, and placed on a feeding tube for nearly 2 years. Gaining weight has always been an issue for me. And we were unsure of the issue causing my rapid weight loss. During the time in the hospital, many lab tests were performed, Doctor told my parents what they discovered, though being a child at the time i was not aware or told of what they found.

My Education

Growing up in school i was placed into an Individualized Education Program better known as "Special Education" in early years of my schooling, though being young i didn't see a difference in learning, but that changed overtime. My educators thought it was the "best thing" for me. They saw it beneficial for me because of my behavioral issues.

When I was in 6th grade i started to notice that those in my Individualized Education Program classes were being slowly segregated from the general school population, including myself. We were no longer in "normal" classes, We were separated from the other students. This made me feel like i was lesser than the normal students.

There was a lot of Toxicity among other students judging us "special ed" kids, A lot of judgement and bullying started to take place, They judged other students with an IEP for being different.

I feel like i lost out on social possibilities during school based on my disorder, I didn't have a chance to prove to other that i was capable of doing the same work as the "regular" students.

99% of our classes were dumbed down, Honestly i feel as if they gave up on us, We didn't receive equal education as others. As if they threw us in a class and threw the key away. Many of the teachers weren't even teachers, they were coaches assigned with Monitoring us.

The first time i was ever informed about my disorder was during an IEP meeting with my teachers in 9th grade, They passed out copies of paper that had my behavioral issues, Learning disabilities and my disorder on it.

It Read: "My name" was born with Klinefelter Syndrome, a Chromosome disorder known as XXY

I was enraged that my parents didn't tell me about my disorder when i was younger, I felt absolutely betrayed. Though i understand now why they hid it from me.

I started to research KS, I read so many negative and outdated articles stating That we are slower, We are more likely to have difficulty learning issues with reproducing, being anti social and the list went on. My confidence completely dropped, I felt so insecure about myself.

Living With Klinefelter Syndrome, Heres my story.

All About KS

For those that don't know what XXY47 is here is more of an understanding, I will post sources on the end of this take.

  • Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY or KS), is a chromosomal condition which results from the presence of an extra X chromosome in cells.” The presence of the extra X chromosomes may affect a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges including, but not limited to, social skills, behavioral issues, infertility, hormone production, low muscle tone, problems with coordination, speech delays, learning disabilities and limited problem solving skills (executive functioning), gynecomastia, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression.
  • Between 1-400 to 1-650– Males are born with KS. Only 25% will be diagnosed at some point in their lifetime, 75% will never know.
  • Affected males typically have small testes that do not produce as much testosterone as usual. Testosterone is the hormone that directs male sexual development before birth and during puberty. A shortage of testosterone can lead to delayed or incomplete puberty, breast enlargement (gynecomastia), reduced facial and body hair, and an inability to have biological children (infertility). Some affected males also have genital differences including undescended testes (cryptorchidism).
  • Older children and adults with Klinefelter syndrome tend to be taller than their peers. Compared with unaffected men, adults with Klinefelter syndrome have an increased risk of developing breast cancer and a chronic inflammatory disease called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Their chance of developing these disorders is similar to that of women in the general population.

Treatment

  • TRT or "Testosterone Replacement Therapy " involves testosterone administered as gels, skin patches or injections. Gel preparations are popular as they work well and are easy to use, avoiding the need for injections, particularly in children. Testosterone replacement may be considered once puberty begins, to support development of male characteristics, such as facial and body hair, increased muscle mass, deepening voice and reduced body fat. It may also help to improve energy levels. TRT is also an option in adulthood and may help to prevent osteoporosis and improve low mood, concentration levels, energy levels, libido and self-esteem.
  • Increased aggression and mood swings can also be seen and it can take some time to find the right dose for each individual patient.

I've been on TRT for nearly 14 years, I did suffer from undescended testicle which was later removed in 2016 surgically due to the treat of cancer.

I take my shots intramuscularly every 2 weeks, and i will have to for the rest of my life, Normally the first week of T injection i feel energized in a way and more active, as well as sexually. Though the 2nd week it starts to fade way, And that's when i start to become very moody, Feel as if i was drained of my energy, outbursts of anger, and Overly emotional, It puts a lot of stress on my body.

My Past and Current Health

I suffer from Anxiety, Infertility, Premature Ventricular Contractions

I've been on TRT for nearly 14 years, I did suffer from undescended testicle which was later removed in 2016 surgically due to the treat of cancer.

My Current height is 6′2, and my weight is 105.6 pounds and dropping my Body mass index "BMI" is 13.6 which is extremely underweight, I've recently had some medical issues come up where I've been stuck on a liquid diet for the past few months.

The most my weight has ever been was 122.5 pounds, Gaining weight is almost like a rollercoaster for me, ill do good for a few months, then it will drastically drop.
