While walking our dog's by myself early yesterday morning, one of the dog's kept pulling towards the direction of a man walking on the other side of the street. The other dogs also started pulling me towards that man. Seconds later, the man collapsed. Other people nearby also saw the man collapse and ran to him to help. I immediately called 911 while 2 other people were attending to the fallen man. My dogs were concentrating on the fallen man's left thigh. The other people noticed too.
Fortunately, Paramedics, Policemen & Firemen arrived quite promptly. As they rolled the man on the stretcher into the ambulance, my dogs were still concentrating on the man's left thigh. I pointed that out to the Paramedics. The other people mentioned it too. Meanwhile, I gave my number to one of the Policemen in the hopes he'd update me later about the man who needed medical attention.
This afternoon, that Policeman called me to let me know the man is doing better. Apparently, the man's blood pressure was "through the roof" yesterday morning. I was also told that he had an aneurysm in his left thigh. The Policeman learned that the aneurysm was about to burst. The patient's previous medical records (pulled by the hospital) did not indicate anything of the sort. It was my dogs that initially brought attention to that matter. So, this morning, the aneurysm was operated on with preventative surgery.
Later this afternoon, the Paramedics and Policemen will drop by our home to meet "the dogs that saved that man's life" and bring them some treats. We were also invited to meet the man's family who want to express their gratitude to me and our dogs who "sniffed that anomaly in the man's thigh". They already met and thanked the other people who helped in the situation yesterday morning. Tonight, my husband & I will visit the patient in recovery and his family. We will, of course, take the 4 dogs.
