Oh man. I dealt with stuff like that, working night shift. In one month I went from "hey, I can see my abs" to "sheesh. I see lard!"
Diet and exercise level and sleep all effect it. Maybe you're eating more and don't realize it? Also try green tea, it helps keep your metabolism burning high. also focus on what you're eating, like more carbs/processed foods? try to eat as much fresh protein as possible. like, for dinner, fry three eggs in olive oil, like that.

I can probably guess why but if you want a real answer I would like for you to post here every single meal you ate yesterday in order, then put your height, age and weight. I will then tell you why.
I am a personal fitness trainer FYI. Could be something medical but first I want to rule your diet out. If you lie on anything you eat then I can't help you.
I have many different ideas:
1) your pregnant
2) thyroid disease
3) a stress response to the events in your life
4) if you have just suddenly started working out, it may be that your body is scared that you are starving
whatever you do, see a doctor. the opinions of all us on here is no substitute for that. this is highly unusual and i would definitely seek medical help right away
Thyroid glands. Symptoms would be:
1. Feeling cold most of the time.
2. Low energy
3. Dry skin and hair, brittle nails
4. Depression
5. Neck may start to swell due to goiter.
6. Some cases may have cardiac issues such fast heart rate due to an overexerted heart.
These are common symptoms. Might want to have it checked out. A simple blood test is all that is required.
You should get to a doctor it could be something to do with your thyroid.
Are you on any new or started taking a new medication a while ago?

diet and exercise is key. 3 times a week isn't enough unless you're in maintenance mode. go 5 times a week. eat a healthy diet. lift weights and cardio.
The human body adapts to change. If you changed your nutrition, your body will also change. Try working out 5 times a week to really boost that metabolism so you can digest more nutrients rather than storing them as fat. The reason food gets stored as fat is because your body cannot digest all the grams of each type of macronutrient (carbs, protein, oils/fat, etc) If you have been gaining weight, you have been eating too much of one, maybe more than one, macronutrient. If you speed up your metabolism you will be able to digest more and also your body will try to use fat as an energy source if you eat less carbohydrates. Hope this helps. Good luck
It sounds like you need to see a doctor. Something could have changed in your body to cause such rapid weight gain. You may also need to keep a food log, and record exactly how many calories you are eating. You may be eating more than you realize, and a food log could help you figure it out.
An issue like that is definitely situated with your thyroid. Thyroid disorders screw with your metabolism and will make it extremely hard to lose weight. Has the cold bothered you? Are you tired a lot?
Stress can make you hold onto weight, that might be a factor, or your metabolism be slowing down. Either way you need to see a doctor about it. Even if you're not eating junk calorie counting is always good. But like I said, see a doctor, weight gain could be a sign of diabetes or something worse.
Are you on anti-depressants? I know it gave my brother gigantor man-boobs
"I didn't know I was pregnant"
