People need different amounts of sleep. People will quote 8 hours as standard, but people like you and me simply cannot sleep that much. I sleep 5-6 hours ever since high school. Sleep at 2am and wake up at 7am is normal for me.
Being well rested improves your cognitive abilities during the day. If you don't feel sleepy throughout the day with less than 8 hours of sleep you're probably just fine. More sleep is also associated with longer lifespans. This is likely to be associated with the metabolic rate of your cells. Since your cells are more active while awake, if you sleep less, your cells will grow and replicate more over your lifetime vs someone who sleeps a lot more. So they also wither and die earlier too and are more prone to genetic decay with each replication.
On the upside, statistics show that people who sleep less are more productive and successful in life. People like Donald Trump and presidents of major countries are known to sleep very little by nature. They get more done in the day and are often a go-go-go type of person

Sleep is extremely important. You need 8 hours of sleep at least otherwise your body starts producing fats. You also dehydrate and your brain cannot synthesize the information that it has gathered through the senses. The last problem is one that eventually causes memory loss, like Alzheimer's or Dementia, your brain's cells create 60% more space through expansion so a specific cell can release fluids to clean organic waste, otherwise if it builds, it develops into disease.

Sleep is incredible important. Your brain needs a certain amount of time in REM sleep to consolidate the information it's taken in that day and to restore your body. You might not notice the negative affects from a lack of sleep but it does slow down your cognitive abilities. If you're open to it, you should try smoking pot before bed. The pot will help you sleep deeply and it also impairs your short-term memory a bit which affects dream recall so it should help with the nightmares too.
Just wait a few years and all you'll want to do is sleep all day anywhere possible. I used to be the same as you until this summer where I've slept 16+ hours a day.
Try taking MidNite which is a little chewable tablet that's all natural and is a sleep aide. It helped me when I was where you are.

Getting only ~6 hours of sleep for just one night reduces your alertness through the day by 32%, which is probably much higher in your case. It's estimated that over 100,000 automobile accidents every year are directly caused by drowsy driving. Occupational injuries are twice as likely when you're tired. A lack of proper sleep "impairs attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning, and problem solving", which not only makes you temporarily stupider but also permanently because you don't learn nearly as well. Chronic loss of sleep increases your risk for "Heart disease, Heart attack, Heart failure, Irregular heartbeat, High blood pressure, Stroke, Diabetes".
The list goes on and on. Sleep is a necessity of life, and starving your body of something like that is one of the most unhealthy things you can do to yourself. The bad migraines and dizzyness are probably because of the lack of sleep. It is not healthy and can lead to weight gain as well as high blood pressure and other dangerous health problems. Depression also can result from lack of sleep.
You body needs to sleep to repair and cool down, like a computer. If you don't sleep, you don't repair.Missing out on some sleep never hurt me. At times when I worked night shift, I'd only sleep on Thursday (maybe 8 - 10 hours) and on weekends.
At other times, I've survived on 3 hrs per day and worked maybe 20 hours.
I look good for my age, never been overweight (slightly under ideal), and most people think I'm younger than I am.Eh, I actually work best with 3-4 hours. When I don't get a lot of sleep I wake up feeling more alert, versus drowsy when I get a lot. My dad's the same way. I know what people say, but everyone's body is different so I do what's best for mine. I also never really get migraines or feel dizzy.
Plato is partly right, sleep is extremely important indeed, however how much sleep you need is hard to tell since it varies.
3-4 hours for a teenage girl seems tab bit too little on a regular basis, but your body should regulate your sleep by feeling tired. If however you are feeling tired and deprives your body from sufficient sleep, then it becomes a problem as Plato described and linked to.Sleep is indeed a great requirement for the ff reasons:
(1) It re-energize you for the next day
(2) Calm and peaceful mind
(3) Fixes cells - your body needs to fix something through sleep
That's all I can think for nowSleep is incredibly important. 3-4 hours sleep is probably less than you need. Your body and brain is probably functioning at a lower level than it can. Try to get more
The dizzy feeling is your blood pressure and it is related to sleep. Too little or to much sleep is bad for your heart.
You need 7 to 8 hours a night.I kinda do this same bit i still get like 5-8 hours i dont like sleeping at all i rather play games but i sleep about 12am then sleep till like 7am then repeat but school is different
sleep is essential babe.. you body requires at least 8-9 hours of sleep.. and don't forget that beauty sleep is important
Your organs can stop functioning, you are sleep-deprived and you are being an idiot by ignoring those symptoms, get more sleep.
Scientist think that some people are genetically pre-disposed to being alright with little sleep. Of course, that is still just a theory... It's safer to get more sleep if possible. It's not concrete that you need more than 5hrs of sleep.
Man, I wish I could have nightmares every night.
Those fuckers are exciting. Most of my dreams are nonsensical bullshit.there is def. a connection. lack of sleep fuck your brain up in irreversible ways. and you can't catch up on lost sleep. once its lost... its lost.
As you get older it starts to become less important buttttt like for example if you know you're giving a presentation the next morning, you probably should get a good nights rest (about 8 hours)
sleep is the most important thing for your health
