consistency is the key to timing
... some people say a minimum number of hours is what's important (it is to an extent...4 hours for psychological stability). But a study was conducted a while back revealing that it's cyclic, not cumulative... so if you get 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep from the the same time to the same time, every night for a few weeks, it's actually more beneficial than 8 hours with different sleep/wake-up times
Similarly, naps are horrible for your sleep cycle... you may feel rested afterwards, but it affects the quality and length of time you sleep at night and how well you sleep on subsequent nights
except "power naps" (10 minutes)... those seem to work well for me and others... like a huge caffeine boost, hehe
Actual caffeine though... you should avoid it... especially after 2 pm. That'll keep you awake
Also try and avoid any activities before sleeping in which your mind is active... you're sending mixed messages to your brain... You want your brain to think "bed = rest"
... so if you can't sleep, get out of bed and do something until you feel tired
(besides, how is lying awake stressing out helping anyone, lol)
Also, I'd avoid drinking juice in the middle of the night... the sugar in it may keep you awake... and it'll tell your brain that it's normal to wake up in the middle of the night
... trust me on this... i went through something similar and ended up waking up exactly 2 hours before my alarm for a couple weeks last month :P

Also, the bright side is, you should have less migraines once you start sleeping better :)

i say you are maybe too stressed from school and your mind might be to busy to fall to sleep.
anyways taking advil pm and any other drugs for sleep is not a good idea. you could eventually become dependent on them till the point you will not sleep without them. i am talking from experience because i had sleep problems three years ago and my doctor prescribed me sleeping pills and ever since then i been depending on them and you dont wanna know the hell i been through with them. wouldn't even wish this on my worst enemy.
i say the bst thing you can do is drink one of those sleep time tea and drink melatonin, which is what i used to take for sleep before all this nightmare started. its natural and not only does it help you sleep but it also helps you keep you sleep pattern balanced
Don't have anything sugary before bed.
When the sugar wears off , you'll be left feeling hungry , and it'll wake you up.
No coffee , no sugary food or any high energy food before bed.
If you want to try a sleeping aid. I recommend Source Natural's NightRest formula , it has 5mg of melatonin and lots of other micronutrients that aids sleep and recovery and is IMPOSSIBLE to overdose.

Sugar rush? I read before it doesn't actually make children hyper and it's all a state of mind but not sure about maybe keeping ya up. Someone I knew took some sleep meds and said if he stayed up after he took them he couldn't fall asleep.
Personally I breathe using my diaphragm and it makes me feel tired pretty quick. If you're having a case of insomnia, chamomile tea
or warm milk works great to relieve that a bit.
Also, any electronic devices.. phone, television
computer and such, should be avoided for up to an
hour before going to bed (Ideally). ^.^Sleep with meh! ill cuddle u to sleep so.. maybe that might help :)
