How to get colored contacts?

I wear glasses. I have astigmatism, (not very bad) and I am nearsighted in one eye. I've never worn contacts before, but I'd like to try and get some colored contacts for some costumes I've been looking at doing. (brown for rose tyler, or maybe all gold for badwolf...) I have blue eyes, so I really want to be convincing.

I've done a bit of reading and found that to get contacts legally, you have to have a perscription from your eye doctor, which is annoying. I wouldn't mind getting non-prescription ones either, since my vision is good enough that I could see okay, though it'd be annoying, but I'd still need a prescription from my dr. to get them legally. I don't go to the eye doctor hardly ever, and I'd really like to save a trip/call in. Does anyone know how much these cost, or where to get them cheapest? Or which ones are more likely to be safe? (I don't want corneal ulcers or something)

Hmm.. I've worn contacts since i was in grade 5 aha but i just have clear looking ones, here i know that we can just buy coloured contacts in the cosmetic shops pree cheap but if you want prescription ones i think going through the interent is probs the easiest way and probs cheaper.. but yeah you would have to get your prescription from the eye doctor and then just use that to order :)

Air Optix by Alcon has colored contacts that are safe and of good quality. If you go to their website you can get a coupon to get a free trial which may offset any expenses you might have by going to the eye doc. You still need a prescription though.

I understand what your saying. Please don't buy some cheap ill fitting contacts anywhere but from an eye Dr.
You only have 2 eyes & possibly doing irreversible damage for a night of fun isn't worth it.

Don't ever take a chance with your eyes, or anything else for that matter. Make safe choices.
