Skincare question: got the occasional pimple, quite a lot acne scars. Will washing with only water help?

I'm 24, almost 25 and I still have pimples. Not that many anymore, but during that time of the month, it gets bad. I have red spots from acne scars, so no bumps or anything deep or something, but it seems like they won't go away.
Some of my friends, who have pure clear skin, wash it only with water. No cleansers, no moisturizers, nothing.
I was wondering if switching to washing it with water will change anything. Or what mild facewashers or products do you use?

Try doing a honey mask every night, leave for 20+ minutes, then wash off with water or a mild cleanser and moisturize. Honey is a natural antibacterial and helps take away redness in the skin. Argan oil is a great moisturizer, easily absorbable by the skin and safe for acne prone skin. Jojoba or rosehip oil are also great. I know using an oil on oily skin seems counterintuitive but often the excess oil produced by the skin is present because the skin is overcompensating because it's dry, possibly from too harsh cleansers.
I did this when my skin was going through a bad bout of pimples and it really helped to clear up my skin.

Another factor worth thinking about is your diet - are you eating well, getting enough fresh vegetables, greens and fruits? How often do you eat processed/"junk" foods? Just some things to consider when it comes to your skin's health.

When I was a teen, I had problems with my forehead, sweetie, Breakouts that covered full force. Mom would buy me acne cleansers, astringents and then I would lightly moisturize to keep this from drying. I finally outgrew this, thank God.. you will too someday.
For now, don't use just water. This is not getting the problem at hand to disappear. You need a little help and the best help I can give you is go to the store and invest in Neutrogena acne cleansers and products for this. They make wonderful things that will be gentle and should help your problem go away.
Also for now, being you are having an issue with your skin, watch the chocolate, the oils, things of this nature that you eat. This, too, will contribute to pimples. I used to break out from eating too much chocolate, too many tomatoes. Now I can eat anything.

I remember when i had that very same question. oily acne prone skin too... soap and water 3 times a day worked.

I also have very oily skin and I like to use Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub. I literally had a face full of acne and now pretty much all of it is gone :). Also try doing a honey mask every now and then, leaving it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off with water. You should also try drinking more water and if you don't like it just try building it up: first 2 more glasses a day, then 3, 4 etc. Also a good idea would be applying a few droplets of argan oil to get rid of scars and acne. And try eating more fruits that are good for your skin. I like making smoothies with strawberries, blueberries, mango or pineapple in it.

I have oily skin and large pores too. but luckily, i dont develop acne except when im really stressed or when i have my period. acne is caused by the blockage of dirt in your pores. although there are people who are fine with just plain water, there are those who need something to remove the dirt. maybe your friends have small pores thats why they dont develop acne. i wash my face during shower and before i go to sleep. i use dove since it also moisturizes my skin. just remember not to use too harsh soaps or it can cause dryness. as for the acne scars, i use pond's white beauty detox spotless white cream after washing my face before i go to sleep. it can whiten your face so make sure that you will only apply it on your scars. i've been using it for a very long time. i hope it works for you too. :) oh and if you wear make up, NEVER go to sleep without removing it because it will cause acne. whenever i wear make up, i make sure to use facial cleansers after washing my face.

The secret i have found that works wonders is to add a little baking powder to your cleanser and do a facemask every other night with it to keep your skin pimple free. if you get a random pimple and don't feel like doing a full mask just dab a little of the mixture on your face. Leave the mixture on till it starts to tingle then wash it off. Hope this helps.

Aloe vera or food grade vit c helps!
