Are the ‘body positivity’ campaigns these days more about slamming slim women?

i chose B but i'm pretty damn sure that A is their ulterior motive, to criticize and discredit slim women so that they can get a chance or simply to ruin their lives because they think its supposed to be "perfect" when it never actually is.. crab mentality, and I've seen countless people like that, people trashing talking and destroying people they think are better than them, that kind of people need a swift punch in the jaw.

while i do believe that average women should be more positive about themselves they shouldn't use slim women as a scapegoat for themselves, its cruel, selfish and self centered, they should pick on themselves and force themselves to either improve or accept who they are and be positive about it without destroying other peoples lives.

however if i ever see a group of people doing those campaign's and start antagonizing me and making me appear evil to the people they're "converting" i will just pour whatever drink i had at the time firmly atop their heads and down their backs and tell them to go fck themselves =_=

This is why I hate that song "All about that bass", because all it does is shits on slim girls.

"You're beautiful the way you are, unless you're a skinny bitch" is basically the message and the singer shamelessly tried to pretend like her song wasn't bashing fit women, because it had that one teeny tiny line that supposedly addresses all women. My arse.

The keyword in that case (and most) is 'bitch' a bitch is a bitch no matter their size (or gender lol). She is just referencing the skinny girls who make fun of larger girls-hence the bitches.

She's referring to skinny girls, who think they're fat, in s derogatory sense.

And her verses claim guys prefer women "with junk in all the right places". Her body acceptance song is about putting down the slimmer girls for a feel good kick.

That is not how you bring about acceptance.

For a while now it has been seen as okay to discriminate against fat people because being fat is seen as a choice, unlike gender or race. In fact there has been a growing movement to encourage the discrimination of fat people. I guess the idea was to shame them into losing weight, as if their lives weren't crappy enough. People without an eating disorder just don't understand it isn't that easy to get your weight under control. I think this bombardment of discrimination has created an "Its us against them" mentality in the heads of the people leading the body positivity campaigns.

It's about shaming women that are healthy and attractive. When society gets to the point where everyone is a beast, majority rules and the ones that aren't beasts are the ones getting shamed.

They should be making it clear that being heathy is what matters most and that heathy bodies come in different sizes. Some women are thicker while others are slimmer naturally, but they can both be healthy. To make it seem as though one body type is better or more desirable than others is shaming to anyone who doesn't fit that mold. Acceptance for all healthy bodies is what those campaigns should be striving for.

I feel like some of them are. Some might not be doing it on purpose, but they need to stop saying "Fat is okay," and instead say something that applies to all body types. Everyone has insecurities.

Now that you said it, I've never seen a campaign with skinny girls. Both below and above average should be covered, not just above average.

No, I think they are trying to say the average woman isn't skin and bones. Thats why I really like the dove campaign. Sure the girls aren't models or atheletes, they are just average moms and aunts and sisters and what not.

Isn't that always the case though? Any time you have a group who are perceived to be disadvantaged, the usual path is to drag others down to their level. Take feminism, for example, and how men have been treated by them and society in general.

Some of them yes.
I've seen quite a few that put people around my size down just to make the heavier ones feel better.
Those ones are dumb... But there are some that don't do that too.
