Trending & News I'm a bodybuilder and I am neither fat nor ugly, also bodybuilding when done right gives you a fantastic body and bodybuilding is simply training with the intention of shaping and building your body a certain way. Now lets look at some fine examples of bodybuilders who train (ed) correctly and naturally.
First off Steven Reeves ( trained naturally and correctly )
body.builder.hu/.../Steve_Reeves.jpg
Second Jack Lalanne ( trained naturally and correctly )
magazine.enlightennext.org/.../lalanne_age_40s.jpg
Third Michael Matthews ( trains naturally and correctly )

Fourth Bruce Lee ( trained naturally and correctly but trained not for size but purely for strength and endurance hence why he is smaller but actually just almost just as strong as any of the above mentions )

And finally fifth Clancy Ross ( trained naturally and correctly )

So as you can see when done naturally and correctly you look quite good Steve Reeve/Michael Matthew body is what I am working towards.
Actually he did do bodybuilding his own strength rivaled those of people twice his size. Bodybuilding is simply a type of training, Bruce did both fitness and bodybuilding, anyway my point was that when done right it gives you a strong, cut and fit, symmetrical body not the blocky drug induced look people are used to seeing now a days. All bodybuilding is, is training in a way that allows you to shape your body to your own preferences. You don't have to be a hulk looking guy to be a bodybuilder.
Also I know what I'm talking about, because I've been training for 5+ years, converse bodybuilders on a daily basis. And am planning on going to a school that teaches this kind of stuff. And I also personally converse and talk to Michael Matthews in regards to this type of stuff. When I need help or something for my training.
Why because I'm not as big as them? They started out small just like me, it takes years upon years to get to where they were in their prime. It will take me years as well but those are years well spent, there is a lot more to bodybuilding then just looking big, cut or strong. And all body building is, is training, building and shaping your body to look a certain way which I am doing. It's not overnight or even monthly process it takes a lot time.
Steve Reeves and Clancy Ross were not natural; not by a long shot! Try Eugen Sandow instead. He was around prior to anabolic steroids.
Bruce Lee was not a bodybuilder as someone has already pointed out. He attempted bodybuilding type lifting for a very brief time and stopped soon after as it adversely effected his speed. He trained for strength not for sculpting of his physique (bodybuilding).
Mike Matthews is a good example.
Well I consider Bruce (I do know he wasn't technically one though) one in the way he trained, not so why how he looked, not all builders train strictly for sculpting mind you, anyway neither here nor there anymore.
Yeah Matthews is a good example of a natural builder, I quite enjoy his stuff and his books are quite informative. The pinnacle of a natural builder though was Jack Lalanne he really should be what we as builders strive to be.
you are a tad late to the party though, but better late then never I suppose lol.
@RyanDavid I'd have to disagree with you on that, quite a few bodybuilders build for both strength and health, different strokes for different folks I guess.
Most notably your very own example Michael Matthews a known advocate of bodybuilding for health, strength, fitness and sculpting if you've ever read of his books then your aware of how he get's into the science of bodybuilding, the golden ratio and how he and those he instructs train for the 4 reasons above.
I'll agree that most people train only for sculpting though, and yeah there are many forms of lifting.
Also thanks but I've actually been following him for well over a year now, and using both his supplement website and his other advice, article and overall information website and I own and have read 3 of his books.
They are not mutually exclusive. So if you train bodybuilding (aesthetics) then you will get stronger no doubt; they are correlated. Mike Matthews is not solely a bodybuilder and yes you can also train for health and strength and endurance etc, but that does not change the definition nor aim of bodybuilding which has always been based on aesthetics.
Though we're probably splitting hairs here.
@RyanDavid Well regardless I don't put much emphasis into that title anymore, way to many people are against body builders now a days because they think we're all juicing or on drugs or meat heads.
No I don't follow him
This is the guy I follow
www.youtube.com/user/muscleforlifefitness/featured
@RyanDavid yeah back in the I think that was 60s and 70s if I remember right, was a big time for juicing and stuff, at least they did right though.
All the more reason to be educated on the matter though so you can put those that don't know anything in their place.
I'll check out the channel and see what it's about.
Are you calling bodybuilders fat and yourself lean?
Bodybuilder - natural

You
www.t-nation.com/.../image003.jpg
and you're the lean one? lol
I wouldn't call them fat - and being stocky isn't bad, but I don't like the overly huge muscles that body builders have. I'm okay with a guy that works out and has muscles, but I don't like the huge ones that are veiny and bulky. Just my preference though.
I like muscles on guys but I also fall for a lot of lean skinny guys that don't have muscles.
Yeah, that type of body is fine because the muscles aren't overwhelming.
I don't really go around measuring guys waists lol so I don't really know what measurements I prefer on a guy. But yeah, Paul Walker has a good body. But I think for me a lot of it is about proportions. A guy's waist can be bigger than 33 inches if it fits with the rest of his body.
Well, that's not exactly true. Like I said, it has to do with proportions. Some people have larger frames (you know, broader shoulders, etc.) and therefore their waist measurements would be larger than a smaller guy's. But they can still be just as fit. That's why people look at BMI when determining fitness. You can have a large bone structure but still be fit if you don't have a lot of fat on your body.
Yeah that's a low percentage. I don't know the BMI or fat percentage of NFL athletes so I can't speak for them. But I do know guys that have waists larger than 33 in, but they are still extremely fit and attractive.
First of all, that's incorrect. You can be fit without abs
But secondly, you can have abs and still have a waist larger than 33 in.
It's not on steroids. Completely natural abs. A larger waist than you simply because the person's frame is larger - meaning their BONES, nothing to do with fat. A person with broader shoulders and broader hip bones and broader rib cage will likely have a waist that is a few inches more than yours. That's all I'm saying. That's why when I meet someone, I don't ask for their measurements. I just judge based on what I see.
Your waist size doesn't necessarily make you fat. I'm a woman with a 28 inch waist, and I'm not fat, I just have a straight figure. And to answer your question, no. Fat people have an abundance of fat and little muscle definition. Body builders have an abundance of muscle and a lot of muscle definition. Thus they are not fat.
*shrugs* alright, well, that's my opinion anyway.
Okay I agree they aren't lean. But I still wouldn't label them as "fat". They're buff.
the way their veins look like they're trying to escape their bodies really scares me, but it does take a lot of discipline too, so that's kind of admirable, i guess? it really just comes down to personal taste, so of course some people will agree with you and some won't

I'd only consider them fat is they were like those guys at the gym who wear tank tops but have beer bellies.
Either that or the dirty bulking types who have big arms but no definition at all. "Puffy muscles."
The other types are really just stocky guys or the steroid types who just look very out of proportion and/or look like they're not even human.
Well I think the thing is the typical person will label bodybuilders as anyone trying to get in shape when the reality is that competitive bodybuilding is hardly a "health" thing. So basically like any guy who is doing a set of curls is suddenly a "bodybuilder."
The things bodybuilders to do get to where they end up are pretty extreme and honestly, so many of them use steroids. The reality is that the ones who don't know they were slipped a steroid in their supplements are the only ones who get caught. Anyone who knows a drug test is coming up knows to research the clearance time of the drug to avoid getting caught.
I don't think they look fat, but they look unintelligent. Why? Because all that muscle seems to indicate that that they care about nothing except bodybuilding and making themselves an even bigger beef cake. I think even Chris Evan's muscles are too much, and he's not even a body builder.

GaG keeps adding a space before "jpg," so you gotta remove it after copying/pasting the link
LightUp: Even when he's not ripped for a movie, I still think he's too beefy.
there's no definite answer to beauty. Everybody finds something attractive. Just like you say bodybuilders are ugly , a bodybuilder might say you're ugly.
I was going to get into body building but them guys are too extreme.. Especially on food.. I couldn't give up the food lol
I'm curious to know if girls do find them fat
Cause as I guy I dont?
I definitely don't think they look fat, but im not attracted to it. It is too bulky for my taste. I prefer a lean form on muscle
Not really. It depends on if the are pumped up on steroids or naturally built.
It's funny that you assume what I think about guys... I'm in the gym 5 days a week, I have a pretty good idea of which guys are fit and which aren't.
@ihav2fart, there are a ton of guys who come to the gym and act all tough but they spend most of the time talking, or if they lift they do bicep curls and chest presses and little else. Then there are the guys doing extra weight pull ups and 350 pound squats and they never stop focusing. Is that what you were asking lol?
How do I explain that lol? He doesn't have to be bulky huge, in fact I don't like that. But well defined, toned muscles, not huge love handles, and the ability to run without passing out lol. @ihav2fart
Yeah you are @ihav2fart!
Haha, I bet you can and thanks!
Yes they do of its actually fats rather than muscles...
I think they have muscle but are wide so when they put on a shirt you'd mistake them for being fat
I'm not even an adult
Ha ha ๐
Not fat.. Like a blown up Balloon.. Erkk *cringes at thought*
I don't know which body builder your talking about in specific, I'm just talking about how "blown" up like a balloon they look like.
Lol ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ eh I just stay away from men like those. I find them unattractive.
They are fat. Just fat with muscle instead of fat with fat lmao
Fat people look fat, body builders look lean... hmmmm
Not fat, just nasty.
Personally, I think it's an addiction just like any other.
No, they don't look fat and ugly. People like Chris Hemsworth and Christian Bail did bodybuilding to get their roles in movies. They look AWESOME.
No, but body building is kind of a waste. Power lifting is much more efficient and worth more.
yeah i agree i'd not like to look like them LOL
No, but I do think they can look quite gross.
they look bulky not fat
no like
they're got regardless
"If it jiggles, it's fat"
-Arnold Schwarzenegger
No, not fat. Just unattractive.
I just think they look gross!!
Hola Mr. Racist.
Disliking bodybuilders is not racist.
It's not, @RubberDuckie, but this person in particular IS racist.
Oh. You must know him from a different post then.
