My doctor called me the next day with my lab results?

I thought it would take about a week to get lab results back but she called me the next day and told me there was something abnormal in my liver. I got a call from the office saying that i need to go to the Gastroenterologist today. This happened all in a matter of two days? If it is so urgent, could it be something serious? She didn't really explain. I'm pretty nervous, but I'm going in a couple hours.

Usually if a doctor gives you your test results that quickly that means its something bad, but not always one time I got my thyroid tested 2 days later they said my tests came back normal. Just cause its something abnormal in your liver doesn't mean its bad they said that about my liver too they said it was abnormal it was just my bilirubin was a little high that's a substance produced in your gallbladder and stored into your liver its just a genetic thing its called gilbert syndrome.

Your tests yielded abnormal results in some way.
It may or may not be dangerous.
Since he called you, I'd think about an hepatitis infection , rather than about something more serious : he might want you to avoid spreading it.
That would explain the hurry.

It could be. Or they just want to take precautionary measures, instead of waiting a week and not being able to address it. I really hope everything comes out OK. And depending on the labs done, some results are back within an hour. Try to take a deep breath and maybe take someone with you that can help remember what the GI doctor says.

Don't make any speculations at the moment. It will just worry you more and more, go see what she has to say and move forward from that point.

The fact that the results came back so quickly just shows that they work fast it doesn't show an emergency situation.

I can't stop worrying because my sisters mother in law had something wrong in her liver two months ago and almost died but she is a lot older than me so.

Even if there is something wrong, you're at a time in your life where your body is at its prime, so whatever it could be you have a way better chance of fighting it. Also your sister's mother in law has nothing to do with your genes. Don't compare yourselves when you share nothing in common.

I'm not comparing genes, it's just te fact that the liver is a vital organ and she almost died. I don't want to ever go through that.

All the organs are vital. If people can live with half a brain or one kidney comfortably etc... I think you'll be fine. You're blowing it out of proportion and underestimating what modern medicine is capable of.

Do you have a hobby? A favorite show to watch or maybe go out for a run and clear your mind... you need to get away for a while it will help a lot.

Simply put, your test results are something abnormal. Doesn't mean serious or life threatening... but something that needs to be further tested or be given medication for.

The doctor just want to "dot their i's and cross their t's", and take all preventative measures.
