I don't smoke, but I think it should be fully legalized. It has never EVER killed anyone, and it actually has some medical benefits. Also, it was only made illegal in the first because Americans at the time were both wildly racist and ignorant about what marijuana actually was.
www.drugpolicy.org/.../how-did-marijuana-become-illegal-first-place
I'm not even joking. There is literally no legitimate reason whatsoever to keep it illegal. If anything, cigarettes should be made illegal instead. Cigarettes serve NO purpose other than to "relieve stress" while giving you cancer at the same time (If you need to smoke cigarettes in order to relieve stress, when there are dozens upon dozens of alternative methods, then you deserve whatever ailments you get).22 Reply- +1 y
I just think lacing cigarettes with chemicals should be illegal. Tobacco should remain natural, not that it makes it healthy, but it's better than intentionally adding more poisons for consumers to inhale.

+1 yAbsolutely. Especially when you figure you can buy alcohol and tobacco at the corner store. If you think weed should be illegal then you have wayyyyyy too much faith in government and respect for authority, unless you think booze and tobacco should be illegal too. At least be consistent. Otherwise I'd wager that you haven't done your homework. Funny how alcohol and tobacco are legal federally, but weed is illegal federally, and yet weed is prescribed medicinally while the two legal products are strongly recommended against by the medical field. Use your heads, people...

Just to be clear, I like to booze it up, haha, never said I was living clean. Just saying that I recognize there are no long term benefits to it.
- +1 y
I dont understand your argument about it being prescribed medically. You are basically stating that anything that can only be prescribed by a medical professional should be able to be obtained anywhere.
Also why is this grouped with Alcohol and Tobacco again? It has nothing to add to your case. - +1 y
No, he's saying marijuana has medicinal uses, while tobacco and alcohol do not. Yet the other two are legal.
- +1 y
But again why are those even grouped together in the first place? It feels like people only reached out to Alcohol and Tobacco to scavenge up a case based on their legality when they have nothing in common other than people do drugs while they drink and smoke.
And many things have medical uses. But that doesn't mean you should be able to have access to them without a professional prescription. - +1 y
@Noboddy Sorry, let me clarify: so first off, I have a medical prescription, and was a long time recreational user before that. Now I still basically use it recreationally, it just has a medicinal benefit to me as well. But truth told, I'll smoke whether they say I can or not. So you can certainly argue that I'm biased, but I also have a lot of experience with it and can speak on it firsthand.
The reason I group it with alcohol and tobacco is because those are the two readily available legal drugs on the market, and marijuana is next up, already available legally as a recreational drug in the states of Washington and Colorado. And not for nothing, alcohol and the nicotine in tobacco products are both physically addictive. Marijuana is not. You can argue its psychologically addictive, but if I don't smoke for a while I'm fine, I'd just simply prefer to be able to smoke. Ever been around a smoker their first day trying to quit? Or a shaky recovering alcoholic? (Continued...) - +1 y
@Noboddy... So what the alcohol and tobacco argument adds to my case is this: we have to legally available products that have been proven to be capable of harming you, even with fatal results. So why does a substance without those harmful side effects remain illegal, yet is even safe enough to be used as a medicine? If you eat your THC rather than smoke it, there's no known harm. I've seen a few rookies go too hard on the brownies and tweak out a little, but it won't kill you. Try taking too much aspirin. You're dead. But legal over the counter. Basically, it just doesn't make sense to have a more dangerous product legal and the less dangerous product is illegal. Someone explain the sense in that to me, I really don't get it.
+1 yI love mj but not everyday kinda thing. If prescrived for health reasons i think is owesome u find something that can help. But i wouldn't want people smoking it everywhere in the street or in public i like fresh n clean air too. So i think it should only be permited closed doors. Also you should only be permitted to have certain amount. N i feel same way about tabacco but who cares what i think anyway.

I think it should be fully legalized. It should've never been made illegal in the first place. It's pros outweigh the cons and with alcohol being legal, it doesn't make much sense to have marijuana be illegal. Plus people who know it's really not a big deal are still gonna do it anyway and people shouldn't have to worry about becoming a criminal because they smoke pot.

+1 yBased on the fact that it will ruin a lot of underground businesses and will probably be the recreational drug by excellence over tobacco, alcohol and everything else then I say yes, it should be legal. Let´s not forget the medical benefits it has, where no other drug has actual benefits.
I can write an essay right now of why alcohol should not be legal and its consequences, but I couldn´t do that with weed really. I don´t smoke, but I´ve been in a car with someone high and driving, and my grandma (RIP) drove faster than that guy and she never even learned how to drive. Also, I´ve yet to hear an accident, at least around my area, that were caused by someone being stoned whereas alcohol is almost always involved.00 Reply
+1 yI think every plant should be legal. I've never been real clear on how you can illegalize a plant any way. Too much marijuana is bad, but a little in a tea or something can help with pain. Too much coca and poppy is bad too, but they also have some helpful uses.
It isn't the plant's fault it has idiots using it. Deadly Nightshade is poisonous, but it's great for snakebite.10 ReplyMight as well be legal. But have the same restrictions as cigarettes and alcohol. Not in public places. Pot smells like **** and I don't want to smell it. Also not driving while high. Some people may be able to drive just fine high but a lot of others can't and you wouldn't know which one you were until it was already too late.
01 Reply- +1 y
I love the smell of it, but yeah I agree with you.
Yes and I don't even smoke it. I just think that it's ridiculous that cigarettes and alcohol are legal and marijuana isn't. Have you seen what is in the medications doctors prescribe people and the side effects they cause? but weed is illegal, give me a break. I actually think all drugs should be legal and prostitution as well, why does the government get to tell adults what to do with their bodies.
10 ReplyRecreational but it should be monitored like alcohol, so no doing it in public places, must be 21 and no driving under the influence. That is how it is here in Washington and it works so far.

This is the smartest thing I've heard from a person who is for legalizing weed. I'm just saying.
- +1 y
Ha thanks :) I just don't want people out in daylight smoking a J in front of kids or walking around blazed out of their minds. It isn't okay for alcohol and marijuana shouldn't be an exception. And thank you @SweetNovella
+1 yI really don't see why not, I mean it shouldn't even be illegal in the first place. I don't smoke anything, but logically, MJ is basically liquor, you just have to smoke it instead. . . Weed is for pleasure and like all others, sex is too.
10 ReplyI don't smoke, but I feel from what I've heard and learned about weed it's not dangerous, the only thing its guilty of is being a gateway drug, which from what I've heard is debatable but I don't know. Also if its legalized it will be safer, again just secondhand knowledge, but your dealer can give you weed mixed with other more dangerous drugs then you get addicted to that. Legalization would make it safer and the government can collect taxes on it. its a win win situation if you ask me.

+1 yIf it was made legal, it would reduce spread of harder drugs.
People who grow their own at home don't need any contact with drug dealers, who are keen to introduce them to harder drugs.20 ReplyI don't smoke marijuana but I live in Colorado and know a ton of people who smoke. It makes them happy so I'm cool with it. I just wish traffic wasn't so bad here due to all of the weed smoking transplants.

- +1 y
I agree, not to mention they tax the fuck out of us to enforce these laws. Our money can be spent on better things, rather than jailing non violent people.
- +1 y
Lmaošš that's what I'm sayin'!!!
2K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. no it shouldn't. It's not that bad for you BUT it would make the transition to harder drugs easier if you already smoke weed
13 Reply- +1 y
No of course not. Because beer doesn't effect our brains the way weed does. Drugs are in its own class. Booze is booze. Weed directly effects our reward centre and alters our perception in a way that's more similar to other drugs. It's easier to take acid, speed, Coke, heroin when your body becomes use to the buzz of weed. You look for a strnger buzz
Booze you just look for more booze, generally speaking
I'm not saying weed is bad. Cause it really isn't that bad at all. I personally think it has amazing positive effects If used properly. It's amazing
+1 yIt should remain illegal. My boyfriend who used to be a heavy smoker has the exact opinion.

Why indifference? People go to prison for this, and your money is what funds the prison system. This is money that could be better spent elsewhere.
- +1 y
Do you have any loved ones? Do you plan on one day having children? Someone you know or care about could one day have their life destroyed because of these policies. Your young, and you might not think this affects you now, but one day it might become much more personal for you. Apathy is no way to go through life. If you were being raped or murdered in an alleyway, would you want bystanders to think, "Well I don't know her, not my problem?"
- +1 y
Your missing the point, I'm trying to show you how cold you are being to people who have had their lives unfairly ruined.
- +1 y
And although you may not agree with their life choices, do they deserve to be punished when they are not hurting anyone?
- +1 y
@Asker You are being rude as hell. You asked for opinions and she stated her opinion and now you are disrepecting her opinion. How immature is that. Get over it. You have people are for legalizing weed and you have people who are against it. And you have people WHO DONT GIVE A SHIT!!! Move on with your life. ššš I'm totally with you @Afrochick
- +1 y
Alright, fair enough. I wasn't trying to be rude.

@SweetNovella lulz All I said was 5 words. Guess some people love being argumentative. <3
+1 ymedicinal use only
22 Reply- +1 y
Just wondering, why only for medicinal use?
- +1 y
if ya take away the symbolism and see it as a pill
it has many benefits such as helping glaucoma and arthritis pain.
it has side effects
it can be made/grown by nearly anyone
so if it's for medicinal use, getting all the benefits when ya need em
if it's legal, so many more peeps will take it up, and although the argument for side effects vary from lethargy to creativity... it affects peeps different, so broadening the market so to speak would seem illogical as it's exposing it to more
peeps who are gonna smoke it illegally, will smoke it illegally anyway
FULLY legalize it!
