Best way is to look at UFC. I know martial art purists would disagree, saying i. e. you've got gloves, ring, rules etc etc but for the most part, if you can fight in a ring you can fight on the street. If you can kick someone in the lower thigh with great accuracy, pretty sure you can kick them in the balls with just as much power and accuracy. Similarly, if you can punch with accuracy, pretty sure you can finger jab to the eye, bite, use environmental weapons etc etc. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that on the street you can do whatever you need to survive.
So in my opinion and experience: BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, Wrestling (and any other full contact martial art that encourages sparring)

it depends, you need to find what you're good at. i'm an advocate of good old fashioned boxing, just learning how to punch correctly is helpful. the core of self defence is basically not putting yourself in the position where you've got to fight. leqrning how to roll is certainly fun and you'll learn a bunch about yourself after you've been choked out and stretched the wrong way a few times but in a real lift situation you're not going to try a triangle lock on a drunk asshole in a bar.

Look here man. MMA is ideal. Its proven tried and true. It triumphs just one traditional style. However if you're not into that boxing or bjj would be your best bet. If you can properly thow a 1,2 and keep your friggin chin down you'll win mist street fights. However if it goes to the ground you're fucked. So bjj is good for that. And its got some okay takedowns. But every fight starts standing up. I reccomend both but do what want
Martial Art? BJJ by far. Best self defense? Krav Maga
