+1 yIt's a double standard, I personally don't agree with the whole "Plus Size" movement. Being overweight is unhealthy. Then again I do agree with the fact that people need and should be comfortable in their own skin. It seems though that it applys to women more then it does men. Its funny that some women are called BBWs. But no one wants a BHM Big Handsome Man (made that up just now).
Whats the most attractive part on a mans body? Most women would say Abs. Almost none will say A Belly. But I voted Yes.10 Reply

Asker+1 yIt is suppose to be male body positivity but it has received backlash. It was meant to stop you from having to look muscular all of the time
Asker+1 ysince apparently women can be curvy and fat now
- +1 y
OOOHHH. well... its not like all guys try to be muscular anyways. what a stupid movement
I don't know what that is but I'd rather eliminate fashion magazines body illustrated junk food have mandatory free time for exercise so everyone can just stay in reasonable shape so we can stop spending time trying to make people feel better for feeling bad about stuff that didn't have to happen in the first place. Western culture is so full of physical and mental crap and philosophically stunted, it's not surprising people become fat.

I do think a man's body with only 5% bodyfat and veins extremely visible is not exactly healthy I think. Just like those curvy BBW women who are clearly overweight, but it's acceptable, because they have a hourglass figure. Why doesn't everybody just strive for a healthy body? Like a BMI of 19 or something.

5% bodyfat... holy shit xD
- +1 y
@BertMacklinFBI some guys actually strove for that. To really see abs and veins clearly you have to have an extremely low body fat percentage. I found this picture on the internet an I think this guy looked way better before.
cdn1.bigcommerce.com/.../tom-osborne-winner3.jpg - +1 y
he got ripped! yeah 5% is crazy. its so difficult to maintain unless genetics are doing like 95% of the work for you
Asker+1 yHe probably took steroids. Most of these bodybuilders have admitted to taking steroids. Well, lance armstrong is not a bodybuilder but you get my point.
- +1 y
5 percent body fat is incredibly hard to achieve for men and nearly impossible/unhealthy for women. Also, a healthy bmi is 19-25 or 20-25. Below those ranges is considered unhealthy and underweight. Know your stuff before you type it. I agree that no one should promote unhealthy lifestyles but I think body acceptance is important to start a healthy lifestyle and lose weight. These movements are good in small doses but can go overboard.
- +1 y
@flushednative don't worry girl. I know stuff before I type it. Some people say the range is from 18 till 25 and some say 19 till 25 or 18,5 till 25. In my opinion, for young people I would say 18 till 25 is a better range, because young people are often skinnier than when they get older.
Unfortunately, those movements are also used by a lot of overweight women to make it acceptable to be fat. Everyone should try to be on a healthy weight and not try to say that their overweight body is just 'curvy'. You see it here on gag all the time.
I also wonder if those movements are really to embrace your body the way it is. There's also a lot of skinny hating and girls who don't have a lot of curves are suddenly seen as undesirable. Leading to things like implants and such.
People will always be competing and if fashion says 'curvy is great' or 'skinny is great' doesn't really matter, but you could think. about that most people in the USA (where it has most ifluence) are overweight. - +1 y
You're all wrong. Body Mass Index means next to nothing and most doctors, including my OWN, doesn't use it. It doesn't measure muscle mass, bone density, or frame size. With this logic, Tom Brady and many other professional athletes are overweight. It's about FAT percentage.
By the way, 5% body fat is actually unhealthy for anyone. That's too low and your body won't function right.
The whole idea for the movement is if you find people physically attractive or not. Health is irrelevant here anyway.
And my doctor and I talk about this every time I visit, so don't give me some bullshit rebuttal.

+1 yI support it I suppose.
However, gonna be honest... not so impressed with encouraging obesity/being out of shape for either gender so I'm not super impressed with the "love your size" campaign for women either.
But I suppose if we're going to encourage lackluster female body fitness we may as well encourage lackluster male body fitness as well.40 Reply
+1 yNah. I don't think encouraging people to be happy with being out of shape is a good thing. It's laziness, plain and simple. People want to eat shit, barely exercise, then complain about how unfair it is that they're viewed as being less attractive because they're out of shape and claim victimhood. Fuck that. I just eat properly and exercise instead of crying. I know I won't look like a male model, but I do my best. All this flowery self-esteem vullshit is turning people soft, weak, and pathetic.

+1 yIt's about time we stop seeing the male body as only attractive if it's muscular. For those that aren't muscular it affects their self-esteem just like for plus size women seeing just skinny women.
I think it's great that they're taking men's feelings in consideration, something it's usually just not even noticed.
I don't personally like that body type, I'll never get it, but for those that do like it, or have it, they shouldn't feel ashamed of that.01 Reply- +1 y
Oh, I forgot to say that if it's unhealthy it shouldn't be glorified, but not all "chubby" people are unhealthy.
+1 yNot really and I don't like the whole "curvy/fat" movement for women either. We should have a "stop eating so much garbage and be healthy" movement. If they want to be that way and are happy then great. Just don't expect applause from me, that's what their mommies are for.

@bellegirl21.. dad bod is a body shop that was always around. It doesn't refer to obesity. It just refers to a guy with a mature body. Or mans body without abs or that vascular look, which in itself is an unnatural state. The women curvy/ fat movement is a bit different, whereas many of these women are beyond a comfortable body state, and very overweight. That's more about acceptance of body shape, bc its too difficult for them to lose weight do to low will power.
+1 yNo. If some dude wants to have an unhealthy body & if he wants to call it a dad bod, then that's his choice & I respect it.
If he needs an entire PC movement to make himself feel better about his own lifestyle choice, then.. I've no respect for him & will want nothing to do with that pathetic, insecure, sad excuse of a 'man'...00 Reply887 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Definetly. I think men (like women) face a lot of pressure to be talk, muscular and super defined. I think if they showed average bodies we could get rid of that self consciousness

I don't care personally but apparently it's pissed off the media.00 Reply535 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. No, those bodies are not only unattractive but unhealthy. Quit being lazy and put in some work in the gym.

Not really. I'm a fat dude and trying to lose weight. I mean, fat people should be allowed to do whatever they want but they're promoting an unhealthy life style and you know it.
00 ReplyMeh. I'm personally not a fan and don't want a guy who has a fat gut. I prefer a guy who is somewhat lean, but not muscular. But whatever they feel most comfortable in, I guess.

- +1 y
This "movement" if you can call it that, seems disingenuous. It's funny because younger women assume men are just desperate when we go after women that are a little heavier. I don't think the same can be said for women. The truth is, it's women are their own biggest critics when it comes to weight. Do we REALLY believe Seth Rogen would be getting laid if he wasn't "Seth Rogen"?
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI think we need a male genital-size positivity movement more than we need one about weight.
