It depends. Trying to attempt yoga poses and exercises that are currently beyond your level of fitness and proficiency is frustrating and make things worse. When it comes to fitness as a natural antidepressant or coping mechanism it is very important to keep it to things that are well within your current capacity. After all, trying and failing when you're already battling serious depression and a heavily damaged ego is only going to make you feel worse.
In fact I'm going to go ahead and say if that's the reason you're doing it you should step it back just a little bit from the level you'd he pushing yourself to if fitness really was your goal. You'll still get stronger and fitter, it'll just happen at a slower rate.
