Supreme Court upholds Obamacare 6-3. Thoughts?

The only changes I've seen as a result of this program are that my deductible has doubled (My premium only went up slightly, but I might as well not have health insurance anymore, given how much I'd have to pay in a year before it started covering anything), and I have an extra field to fill out when doing my taxes. What changes have you seen? How has it impacted you? Did you support it before it was passed? Do you continue to do so?

What changes have you seen?
- small changes in my policy but nothing significant

How has it impacted you?
- in the long term it should reduce costs as people are forced to have insurance rather than people not having insurance and providers or facilities passing the costs on to those with insurance.

Did you support it before it was passed?
- yes. we are one of very VERY few modern nations without universal healthcare. it was about time

Do you continue to do so?
- Yes. were there kinks yes, have they been ironed out? for the most part yes and it will get more and more efficient.

I just don't think in the modern world we can have millions of uninsured people. healthcare isn't a privilege it's a right that all should have access to that is within their means

Terrible waste of money. It took money from medicare/Medicaid and raised the cost of healthcare astronomically for every working American. Few people benefitted.
Waste of time and money. Long term, it is a disaster. It is not sustainable without dramatic increases in taxes and early studies show it had a very negative impact on small business and the middle class.

What changes have you experienced as a result of it? I haven't encountered anyone who got something positive out of it yet, but they have to be out there if so many support it unless a lot of people are simply sticking to what their party wants.

Okay I'm not an American (UK) but forcing firms to pay for their employees to have private medical insurance isn't the most efficient way of providing healthcare.

I assume that's how Obamacare is supposed to work?

We need better health care in this country. I see nothing wrong with socialized medicine. Helping the poor get what they need seems perfectly ethical.

Only it isn't better healthcare, that's the whole point. Despite what they put in the pamphlets, deductibles and premiums are going up to levels where people might as well not even be insured any more.

It's affordable to people who are in poverty. The poor have been without healthcare for way too long. That means they had NO healthcare. At least with Obamacare they can get some healthcare, some is better than nothing at all.

And it makes it unaffordable for far more people than it helps.

Nothing is ever perfect, but it's a start towards universal health care. If you have a better idea then propose it to congress.

Yeah. Dump the special plan our senators and congressmen get, make them depend on what they're forcing on the rest of us. Open up the exchanges across state lines. Don't force people to pay for coverage they don't need (birth control for women who've had a hysterectomy, etc.). In a perfect world, we'd have adopted the one thing the Confederates did right in writing their constitution - bills before Congress could only apply to one subject (expressed in the title) and had to specify an exact dollar amount to be budgeted to them which couldn't be exceeded without passing another bill to allocate more. No more of these trillion-dollar phone books that nobody had read getting the rubber stamp along party lines.

They are only "forcing" it on in you the same sense they force you to pay for roads, public schools and firefighters. If you've never had a fire or don't have any kids or you don't have a car you have to pay for those things anyway. Don't like, too bad because that's the way the world works. You have to pay for the things other people need.

I suppose there's no point in repeating myself, you don't care. I *had* a coverage plan that was working before Obamacare trundled along and neutered it. And according to you, I'm just supposed to bend over and take it, "comforting" myself with the unproven idea that someone else is positively benefiting from my loss. My healthcare plan, post-Obamacare, is to not get sick. Gee, thanks.

Go ahead, call me selfish, I know that's the next step.
