It's better to spread your workouts out over the week, allowing for recovery time in between sessions. Only exercising on the weekend is not a great fitness plan. Consistency is key.
For stress relief, after work is best. If you're serious about working out, then at least 4x a week, with rest days, so that would require some weekends as well.
