hmm.. this got me thinking..

every time i go to the gym the front desk girls always say hi to me with a huge smile but i just look at the keypad, sign in real quick and head to the weight room. my music is on so im sure they know i can't hear them but i ignore her every damn day and it looks like its driving her crazy hahaa.

ha fhunny story.
went to the gym and gave the receptionist my card to scan, she said hi, and i was totally zoned out thinking about something else, so i just nodded. so she repeated it until i said hi back, then she scanned the card.

I'd rather wait in line for a greeting. I dunno, I'm really polite and I make sure that I'd greet everyone properly, so I'd want the same thing from someone serving me.

I see, but I don't get how it's "rude." If they insulted you or rolled their eyes that would be rude

It's rude to not say hello to someone when they come up to you to use your service. It's basic manners just to say hello, plus if you're working in customer service by manning the front desk, it's important to give someone a positive experience. I've had a job in retail like that and I know that if I didn't greet everyone properly and with a smile, they'd have fired me when they found out.

Maybe it depends on the mannerisms of the area. At the gym I go to, I usually scan myself in and the front desk girl hardly ever says hi. Personally it doesn't bother me because I go to the gym to workout.

I really hate it when their having a personal conversation, they just scan your card & act like your interrupting them.

Are you kidding? most of the time when i walk into the gym I've got SLAYER blasting on my ear buds and im so hyped up on pre workout i wouldn't even acknowledge the desk person if they whacked me on the head with a sledge hammer lol!!!
