What were the BEST FRENCH FRIES you've ever had?

My grandmother used to make her own, she's from Belgium and their "frites" are seriously so good! Frite stands were also really good, you could get ketchup, curry ketchup, stoofvlees (a type of beef meat sauce), or mayo with them. I just got ketchup, sometimes stoofvlees. Like I said, my grandmother and mom's are the best, but those stands would be the best consumer ones I've had. They seasoned their differently than the stands, it's like a family recipe (that I don't know yet) and they are kind of thick.

I like Chili's chicken finger basket with their fries as well.
Thanks for MHO!
The best fries in this area are from Thrasher's. They're regular fries with salt and vinegar added.

@mskay Me too. :( I want those fries now, haha.
@Asker I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it. Unless you have been to Ocean City, Maryland, you wouldn't have. Haha.
@mskay Right? Just like you shouldn't go to the grocery store while you're hungry (and I do that all the time...).
@mskay Yep, that's my life! Hahaha. The struggle is real.
I prefer the homemade ones, with salt, pepper and red chili powder on them. They're more just chopped up potato shape than actual fry shape though but at the same time much more crispy on the outside.
Red chili powder is such a win. You should try it on your fries. I think any fries would taste better with it. Another fun thing is to cut a wedge of lemon and dip it in the red chili powder and eat that. So good.
There's a winery in Temecula that's got amazing fries. Normally I just prefer them plain salted, but these were pretty special.

They are the only kind of fries I can eat and not need ketchup to add flavor to them. ^^
At my undergrad, there was this place with sliders and belgian fries. We went for the sliders, but I didn't realize how amazing those belgian fries would be. Amazing!
I also like those butterfly fries from state fairs... you know, the one where they literally shred up a potato in front of you.
From fast food places, BK has the best. But I prefer to buy Ore-Ida crinkle cut fries and cook them myself. I put garlic and old Bay seasoning on them and make them crab fries. So yum.
The only fries that I'd eat is from this two shops called "Crazy Potato" and "Ireland's Fries" or something along that line. It's been months since I last had them tho. If I wanna eat fries I'd make it myself. Best.
Our home made ones are pretty amazing but there's a chip shop over the road which sells fabulous chips.
Fries from a place called La Belle Bedain in Montebello, Quebec. It was 20 years ago and to this day, we talk about those fries with awed reverence.
I got them in Holland on vacation. Dipped them in mayo. They were yummy lol
Parmesan waffle fries at a burger place oh man were those tasty
The day they started call them freedom fries. It just made them taste so much better. Sadly we went back to calling them french fries and the goodness left. End sarcasm.
it was in a tiny stand in jena (germany) they only served thick cut fries but with a vast variety of super delicious sauces...
The road side vender fries are the yummiest and cheapest too 😂
In N Out. a little rigid after cooking, not greasy.
steak fries my dad made
The ones you made for me. ;)
McDonald's. Other than that, I hate fries.
Aside from nacho fries and chilli fries.
Those are good too.
FIVE GUYS, BURGERS AND FRIES!
Made them myself. =)
Five Guys 😋
