Muscle soreness after exercise?

So I've always done home workouts but recently started working out at the gym because my progress platued at what I could do at home. After doing a workout I don't feel sore for the rest of that day. However, the next day it gets a little sore but then the day after that it's super super sore. Does anyone else have this where their soreness gets progressively more intesense with the passing days after a workout? I understand most have it a few hours after workout or the next day. But two days after seems to be when I'm at the peak of soreness.
