But I have to be tired enough that my body doesn't treat it like a nap and wake me up after 3 hours, which is my usual nap runtime.
TIPS? TRICKS? Help 😭
I wish this were my problem, I usually have a hard time falling asleep. 😄
As someone that used to regularly cross between a time zone difference of 6 or more hours my advice to you is to wake up early that morning like around 6am or sooner if you can manage. Exercise in the morning if you like but not after noon or so. Drink some nighttime tea and relax. Take a nap around 9 or 11 whatever you can manage. As long as you get 2 hours it should keep you going and lucid for the next day as long as you've had enough sleep that week.
The worst thing you can do is deprive yourself if sleep earlier in the week.
Whatever you are getting up at 2am for how long do you have to be awake? A 2 hour nap should get you 12 hours. Just when you wake up from the nap. Splash cold water in your face and give yourself a little time to wake up. You might be tired but once fully awake you will feel better.
And further no you don't have to wake up that early to shower and do your hair. Take a relaxing bath in the evening if you are hell bent on sleeping that way you can wake up an hour later. If you feel your hair has to be pretty then sleep with it damp piled in a bun. It will still be wet damp when you wake up and you can blow dry it in 5 minutes. Do your make up on the way to the airport or even better on the plane.
This is not one of life's hard decisions. ☺️
No my hair doesn't cooperate nicely even after being in a bun at night, I've tried. Believe me. I love sleep... I've tried all the tricks. I need to shower that morning.
I have a connecting flight so my first flight is an hour and the second is only like two hours.
Thanks for the tips though.
Upbeat music. Or binge watching something on Netflix. I don't really have trouble staying awake tho. Insomnia and all that good stuff.
Don't read or lay down in front of the television.
Stay busy and eat a little something from time to time. Keeping your digestion busy makes you body more awake.
I also have a weird feeling when I need to get out of bed in the middle of the night to go on holiday. But once you're underway you generally feel better and in the evening of your first day at destination you'll get to sleep easily :D
Its usually make a routine which makes the body more use to a schedule you establish. Also there is certain foods that make sleep more profficient, I am in a similar situation like yours because of my job (modeling) and my university classes so my sleep is a mess.
Good Luck though 👍
i play games while munching on tacos or french fries
lol its when i plan on staying up that I fall asleep playing games.

Stay around friends, in loud places, doing active, but not physically taxing things until a few hours before your new desired bed time. Avoid taking any stimulants like coffee or eating sugary things at least 4 hours before sleep time. Then hit the gym or go workout to tire yourself out, eat a nice meal, and then start turning off the electronics and dimming the lights. Take a nice warm shower/bath, and then turn down the lights and for me anyway, I play this app that plays the sounds of fans blowing for 8 hours. Puts me right to bed officially. The first couple of nights your body is going to struggle to adjust, but when/if you wake up early, stay in bed, don't look at the clock, don't turn on any lights. Try mentally instructing yourself to relax and let feel heavy, your toes, knees, stomach, arms, shoulders, head until hopefully you can get back to those zzzs.
Honestly, you'd be much better off just sleeping in on Thursday (taking the day off if nec) and then pulling an allnighter through Friday night.
Lengthening circadian rhythms is doable, and is surprisingly easy -- way TOO easy, in fact -- once you've done it a couple times. I mean, I've gotten to the point that I described in this thread www.girlsaskguys.com/.../q1887876-how-long-do-you-usually-sleep-for
Shortening a circadian rhythm, on the other hand, is basically impossible. That's one thing that all the king's horses and all the king's sleep scientists just do not have clue #1 how to do.
masturbate. yes, I'm serious about this. on one side it helps falling asleep... on the other it's good to stay awake too. time passes quickly and you feel usually less tired while doing it.
other than that... just do something distracting which sucks you in completely, like playing games or watch some shows.

Go short on Wednesday night - A couple of hours (4 at most) - Then you will get a good 7 hours on Thursday evening/ Friday am.
How'd it go?
when I needed to finish my calc homework last Thursday I just chugged an entire pot of strong black coffee.
Coffee, taking long walks at night, watching movies or getting caught up in a really addicting TV series.
Benzedrine, It's what I shall need if I’m going to keep my wits about me. It’s apt to make you a bit overconfident, but that can help too.
Well for one, I just stay on this site and read stuff.
