August 12th.
I will have a planet fitness mambership.
My goal is to lose 60 pounds.
is this possible?
at least 45 at most 80
Normally I would say no, but a guy I know just lost around that in a little over two months. He eats healthy and works out every day. He went from overweight to a little pudgy and now he's working on getting muscle. So I think if you work hard at it, you could. He could be an exception though. I know he said he ran half a marathon every day after work. I think that's 20 km or a little more. He used to be a runner in his younger days too though, but he had an accident and gained weight.
I do think as long as you workout and eat healthy, you should be able to lose a decent amount. I honestly think a combination of cardio and weight lifting will help, although you'll gain weight in muscle, which isn't bad.
If you try to lose that much that fast you're going to make yourself sick. Why don't you just start adjusting your lifestyle TODAY so that you can make small sustainable changes that improve your overall wellness. Then add those healthy changes to your gym membership.
i said June because i can get my membership when schools out but my mom won't let me get one until summer
That's okay you can still work out and make lifestyle changes at home. That's a way safer and healthier approach than trying to do everything in such a short amount of time.
how would i do that
is there any healthy foods at kroger (i live next to one)
that could help me lose weight.. like low calorie food
Okay. Instead of looking at how many calories are in things you need to look at what nutrients and vitamins are in things and how they affect you. Like celery is low calorie, but it's a pretty useless food. Whereas chicken has more calories but it's good for you.
Plus low calorie foods have artificial sweeteners etc... that your body doesn't digest properly and make you hold on to weight.
Why don't you start with easy goals like trying to eat at least one fruit and/or veggie with each meal and ask your mom to try to buy breads made of whole grains that don't contain dextrose (ie wood).
so just a fruit with every meal
Did you miss the " one fruit and/or VEGGIE" part? You can't eat just fruit. It will make you sick and you won't get important vitamins.
sigh.. veggies
Buy some naked smoothies if you don't like vegetables. It's expensive but really good for you and It doesn't taste that bad.
Your question and your answer options don't match. But to answer your question, I would say you could lose 16 pounds in 2 months - at least in a healthy way. Any more weight than that could be and probably is a health hazard. I was told you shouldn't lose more than 4 pounds a week, at most. So, even if you truly could lose 4 pounds a week, that would only lose you 32 pounds. Why are you trying to lose so much weight in a very small period of time? Get yourself a personal trainer or a health coach. You don't want to lose too much weight in a short period of time. Or maybe ask your primary care provider (doctor).
im trying to do it so i can be in shape for the team next year
i weigh 293 now
If I were you, I'd start as soon as possible (now). It's not healthy to lose so much weight so fast. The earlier you start, the more weight you can lose. You could still be in shape, even if you have some pounds on you. Just do a bunch of running, but don't overdo it. Run somewhat intensively about 15-30 minutes a day every day. It's possible to lose a lot of weight in 2 months, but it's not really healthy. I'm not sure what team you are trying to be in shape for, but just do the best you can. You could/can still make the team as long as you work hard, even if you're not at the desired weight. Probably should have started a couple of months ago. Just do what you can.
i dont want to look perfect i just want to lose some weight in my neck, chest, stomach, and legs then im good
I'm not saying you need to look perfect. Just don't lose too much so fast.
If you're trying to make the basketball team, then I think you have more time than 2 months. More like 4 or 5. You should still start now so that you can reach your goal. I agree with those that say you should eat your fruits and veggies.
Exercise alone won't help you lose weight. What you need to do is start tracking how many calories you eat. 3500 calories is the equivalent of 1 lb so in general if you are about 500 less calories per day over a 1 week period you'd lose 1 lb. Your plan is about 12 weeks so assuming you do as I suggest along with doing light cardio 3 times a week I'd say a good goal for you would be to lose 15 to 20 lbs over those 12 weeks. I'm currently studying to become a personal trainer and have been lifting for 2+ years so I know what I'm talking about.
Track your calories over the next week day by day. Then divide the total number by 7. Subtract 500 from that number and that will be the most good you should eat in a day. Stay away from low quality calories such as fast food. Jog 3 to 5 days a week for at least 30 min or any type of cardio for that matter. Best of luck!

what did she take and how can i get it
maybe if you workout like crazy and starve yourself, but that's not the ideal way to do it. even then you might not lose 60lbs that fast haha what you want to do is aim for 1-3lbs per week. it's the healthiest way to lose weight and maintain it instead of just gaining it all back. that would mean you could lose between about 9 and 27lbs give or take a few depending on how disciplined you are. cut back on junk food, increase your fruits and vegetables and lean proteins, and workout 4-6 days a week. don't deprive yourself of food because you could end up binging on them later. allow yourself treats and don't assume that if you accidentally have a really unhealthy meal or day you screwed up your entire plan because that's not how it works. it's about balance. and remember that the scale isn't always the most reliable especially since muscle weighs more than fat. best of luck!
60lbs of fat? If you're morbidly (pardon the phrase) overweight it's plausible.
60lbs in general... no.
Why? You gain muscle. So balancing gain and loss is a factor. And that muscle passively burns calories... so you definitely want to gain that to keep the fat from coming back. IMHO diet plans should push strength as opposed to cardio. Build up the calorie burning capacity and then work off the extra flab naturally as opposed to throwing all that strain on the joints and such. Swimming of course being exempt.
how much is morbidly overweight
I'd probably say 300lbs+
But then again it's different from person to person. People have different frames, some wear more muscle, so defining that point of being 'too obese' is a huge gray area
how about 296
It may be possible, but it depends. I lost 15 pounds in 17 days just by doing the 17 Day Diet, which I suggest you do if you want to lose weight in a quick and healthy way. The diet consist of high protein and low carbs. After each cycle of 17 days you increase you carb intake, but you do low carb days and high carb days. It is like Carb Cycling. Carb cycling is very very effective in losing weight because it tricks the metabolism by stopping your body from plateauing. In result you keep shedding fat. I lost about 35 pounds in a month by doing the 17 day diet and I barely exercised, lol. I hope this helps.
Yeah i need that howd you get that diet thing
is there a link or something
It's a book that I bought called the 17 Day Diet by Dr. Mike, they also have a website. I think it is the17daydiet. com
I bought the breakthrough edition (newer version) of the book for $15, it is also sold on Amazon for probably less as paperback. Anyways, good luck getting to your goals. 💪🏼
thank you and this works?
Yes, if it has worked for someone like me, who has a hard time losing weight due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, then it should work for you. I have also made my two sisters (1 younger: 17 years and 1 older: 25 and me: 19) do it as well and they also lost a significant amount of weight from it. I do have to point out though that the farther you are from the weight that you should be the faster you will lose weight from this diet. So don't be discouraged if you don't have much to lose. You will still lose as long as you are committed. This diet is based on a completely healthy diet (full of fruits, veggies, protein, carbs, and healthy fats) and consists of no pills or supplements whatsoever so it is good for your health overall.
i want to weigh about 230 but i want it to be muscle
right now i weigh 293
nah not 230 id say 215
To gain muscle you will need to start lifting weights. Weights will help you tone up quickly. If you are trying to shed fat quickly then I suggest High Intensity Interval Training. It is a form of cardio, but more intense with short burts of excercises to keep your heart rate up followed by short breaks to lower your heart rate, only to spike it back up again. Since you have a big weight loss goal in mind I suggest you do the 17 day diet with regular cardio (as you will eat fewer calories in the beginning), once you increase your calories then I suggest switching to HIIT for just 20 minutes a day 2-3 times a week (FitnessBlender on YouTube has many free workout vidoes for this), and also incorporate some weight lifting 2-3 times a week (not the same days as you do HIIT). You will see some drastic changes once you incorporate healthy eating, HIIT, and strength training into your lifestyle. I hope this helps and if you have any more questions please let me know.
That is impossible, and unhealthy. If you stick to a strict diet, drink plenty of water, make sure you have your meals at appropriate times in addition to making sure you go to the gym 4-5 times a week then you should lose 1kg a week (works for me!)
I'm happy to explain if you need it :)
Lol I'm 100% certain that you cannot lose 60lbs in 2 months. You could, however, lose 30lbs if you are really, really disciplined and motivated.
ill take 30 pounds
im just trying to get in shape for the basketball team next year
I think that you'll need about 4-6 months to lose 60 pounds, since healthy weight loss is about 2 pounds per week. So if you lose around 8-10 per month you might be able to get 30 pounds down in that time frame. I would recommend setting short term monthly goals first just so you don't feel overwhelmed. That way you'll be adjusting your goals regularly instead of waiting to see if you can lose x amount by the time your membership ends!
whats the highest i could lose in 2 mounths since im out of shape
It's possible, but don't count on that. Weight loss depends on many things and it involves a lifestyle change. Results can take a little longer than expected to come, but they will come if you have willpower and self control.

Thanks
do you mind if i copy some stuff down on my computer to remind myself
No, I don't. I wrote this MyTake so that people like you can use all the advice. Copy it at will ;)
thank you
No. No fucking way. No.
Unless you're 400 lbs and willing to put in an insane amount of work AND have severe calorie restriction, it's not going to happen. You can lose probably 3 lbs a week with SERIOUS work, and that's about a 1500 calorie a day deficit to do that.
Get the idea of a 60 lb weight lose in two months completely out of your head.
Good luck, yes. It's all about diet, don't forget that.
so its actually possible?
at least 45 pounds
It's very aggressive, but I think it is possible definitely. You should go for it, and if you need a couple weeks to hit your target, it's all good, just GO FOR IT!!
At the same time, don't be too impatient as it'll completely undermine your motivation.
Thank you
i want to at least drop 45 but id be happy losing anything
Just attack your goals man, think of it more like "i want to lose 45 ASAP" rather than "I want to lose xxx pounds by April 12" I'd recommend. REMEMBER ITS SOOO ABOUT DIET!!! I CANNOT EXPRESS THIS ENOUGH!
You should read google on "Keto diets" and "High intensity interval training"
If you do those 2 things I GUARANTEE you will lose the weight sooner or later.
You shouldn't encourage this dude. I get that you're all things fitness and "thin is in" and all but this is highly unhealthy.
@CHARismatic110 I respectfully disagree. It is a lofty goal, but I think it's a good approach to aggressively attack your goals, rather than being passive and stagnant. If it takes him 5 months, instead of 2 months to lose the weight he desires, no worries, it's just good to get started N O W.
I get what you're saying. It's good to be aggressive, yes. But you should also be realistic. I just know from experience that this is the start of a not so good cycle.
@CHARismatic110 Yep, I think both sides/points are good to keep in mind!!
If you cut out all the sweet yummy things from life and than maybe!
i think i got that im gonna only eat fruit i guess
60 lbs in 2-ish months is very unhealthy.
Ideally 2 lbs a week is what you should lose, according to what most doctors say is healthy. Meaning 52lbs a year!
Two months is near impossible
could i lose 5 a week?
maybe
it seems very unhealthy, to me.
you're gonna starve yourself and over exercise and then end up in a binging cycle because your body is gonna be like "I need food! I need to live!". And then you're gonna feel like crap after ward and continue the cycle. I'm willing to bet, if you really try to lose 60 lbs in 2 months.
And then you will gain the weight all back.
man...
I lost 3 kilos in past three weeks. I shouldn't be losing weight , but I am just trying to improve my endurance, maybe I am overdoing.
60 pounds in 2 months is Impossible.
You need to be patient, try losing 4 pounds every month, just get yourself used to the routine , then you can go for like 10 pounds a month.
It could be possible, but that depends on your starting weight, what you eat now and what you eat during that time, and your current BMI. I imagine there are other factors that could come into play, but this is just off of the top of my head.
Unless you cut off a leg, no, it's not possible to do it in a healthy way. The idiot bodybuilder types will tell you to train hard and eat nothing but a cube of chicken every three days, but that's not healthy or sustainable.
You can lose, but you need to work very hard and you need to follow a strict diet consisting of protiens, vitamins, green vegetables, fresh fruits.
I've been eating grapes a lot but it gets hard when you get hungry
If you are very chubby, then its possible. Losing 60 pounds isn't a joke. That is a serious number you are talking about.
Yeah im pretty big i was told the weight will drop fast if over 250 pounds
It is impossible. You don't lose weight exercising you lose weight by decreasing your calorie intake.
You can but it is incredibly unhealthy. It will be hard as fuck too.
I wouldn't keep it to a time frame, remember if you cut out all food or at least most of it, part of the weight you drop is muscle.
No, you can't lose that amount of weight healthily.
