+1 yI had/have the same problem at 15. Irregular periods are more normal than you'd think, and growing hair all over is just part of growing up. When I went to my doctor I was given birth control. Apparently the extra estrogen helps balance out the hair, and helps to regulate periods. I found that the first kind I was put on helped with the hair but messed up my periods even more. I had to try two other kinds of birth control before I finally found one that helped with both problems. Like the other two ladies said, I'd definitely go to the doctors and have them check out what's wrong. They'll likely try birth control or some form of added hormones. Irregular periods are usually a result of crazy, unpredictable teenage hormones. Good luck, I'm sure they'll figure something out. If not, as you get older your body should start to regulate it's hormones so time should help eventually.

Asker+1 yDidn't you have any bad affects of pcos? as I know it causes bad things
And did you gain weight when you use pills? and is it possible to lose weight while using pills?
And did it go way or is it something that will stay forever?- +1 y
I was never diagnosed with PCOS, although I have experienced similar symptoms. Initially I did gain a little weight when I started the pill, but that motivated me to start running on a regular basis. I think that a combination between exercising more, and being on the pill helped to regulate some of my symptoms. It is very possible to lose weight and or maintain a healthy weight while using the pill. There are so many variations of the pill nowadays that even if one doesn't seem to work for you, you can keep switching until you can find something that works for you. My symptoms have not gone away, but many of them have been lessened, and more or less controlled. As for the excessive unwanted hair, I just shave often, and use hair removing cream on my face to remove unwanted hair. Your young, so you've got many years for your body and hormones to figure things out.
Asker+1 ythank you for answering all these questions :)

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI have PCOS. I was diagnosed at 24. Go to an endocrinologist.
You will want to go on a ketogenic diet. I also recommend metformin if you are insulin resistant. These will help your weight and even fertility. Metformin regulated my period.
You should also look into spironolactone or birth control to control hairiness and other symptoms of high androgens.
You should not worry about infertility and do not fail to use condoms, PCOS does not mean infertility and since our periods aren't regular we may not know when we are fertile and can get knocked up.
But make sure to control your diet with low carb high fat and metformin because otherwise you're at higher risk of type two diabetes.
Ask for a glucose tolerance test for insulin.17 Reply
Opinion Owner+1 yMy doctor said until you're trying to get pregnant you won't know if you can or not but just don't worry about it and control PCOS and insulin resistance in the mean time as those are blocks to fertility. If you manage your PCOS and insulin resistance (which untreated is much higher infertility) and are able to regulate your periods it helps.
Asker+1 ywhen I see a doctor and follow the steps that he reccomend will I heal or ıs it something that I2m gonnahave for the rest of my life ıf ıt gets worse will ı be have to have a medical operation? How long have you been doing these things? did pcos get any better?
Opinion Owner+1 yPCOS has no cure but you can manage it w diet and meds and mask most of the symptoms.
Asker+1 yis there any chance that I dont have pcos like being hairy can be genetic?
Opinion Owner+1 yIt can be but if you have high testosterone and irregular periods too it's PCOS doll. I am not very hairy but I had acne even in my twenties plus irregular periods and weight gain and insulin resistance and high testosterone.
Asker+1 yWell is it possible to lose weight during the treatment while using birth control bills
I lost weight before and it wasn't difficult as I read it is difficult for people who have pcos
Opinion Owner+1 yIf you are insulin resistant the birth control won't fix it. Metformin will.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yAsk your mom to get you to see a doctor about PCOS. Since you are still pretty young, your hormones are not balanced yet. However, I have PCOS. There are things that can help you, and not everyone with this will be infertile. You just need to talk to a gyno about this.

Asker+1 yCan't I know if I can have children until I try for it can't a doctor know this before
Opinion Owner+1 yWell, if you do have it, they'll give you statistics maybe. But you might not have it and they can try to figure out what is going on to help. You might just have a hormonal imbalance, and need to level that out. It might not affect your fertility. But I can't say yes or no for sure, sorry.
Asker+1 yOkay thank you for help
Opinion Owner+1 yNo problem, and I hope you figure this out asap. :)
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yDont worry there is a cure but first you should see a doctor.
And then probably he/she will prescribe you birth control pills and yees you must use them and noo they are so innocent dw.
And then for your hair, your pills will decrease them a bit but you can also undergo laser hair removal..
But for now just see a doctor cause you are 15 and its just the time..15 Reply
Asker+1 yI heard that birth control pills have side effects like gaininng weight and not to have a chld ıf I use them for a long time I heard someoen say ıf you dont want to use them the doctor doesn't prescribe it so ıs it because ıt's a bad thing?
and is it easier for me to heal because I'm young?
Opinion Owner+1 yProbably you have PCOs as I have , and yes those pills have side effects and the most common one is gaining weight but you are not a normal person, I mean probably you are having this problem cause you have lack of estrogen and those pills will help you to make your hormones go normal, my bad new is if you reject PCOs treatment, it may make you obese cause its one rule is:It make you gain weight so easily and as you are gaining weight you can not have periods, if you do not have your periods you may gain weight..
Thats just a myth by the way I mean if you use them for a long time you can not have a child thing is not right believe me..
Its nice you are young that means you realized it just at the beginning and now can control it.. Every 3 months you should see your doctor just for some control and you will be so okay
Asker+1 ybut I'm already fat I'm trying to lose weight ı can't start use pills ıf I'll gain weight andI have my period every month but not in the same dates sometimes beginig of the month sometimes in the middle but usally at 20s oof the month and mostly it lasts 7 days but rarely 6 and since I started to have my period ı had it only 4 days twice but ı didn't happened again what I mean is maybe ıt's not that irregular god this is scary I cannot gain weight again
Opinion Owner+1 yIt might be normal also cause you are just 15, but if you want to be sure then you must see a doctor and if he says you have pcos then I can wholeheartedly say, probably thats why you are 'fat'
Asker+1 ythank you for helping I'll see a doctor as soon as I can
A lot of people have hair and you're going through puberty so give it time hormones go ape shit so your periods will as well. Hormonal disorders is different for everyone so just because they still suffer, doesn't mean they should or you will if you even have it. Depending on the imbalance, medicine can be given, and if your hormone are bad, they'll probably just put you on birth control. So calm down and see a gyno

+1 yPCOS is super treatable and it's not guaranteed that it will affect your fertility. The sooner you get into the gynecologist the sooner you'll feel better.
10 Reply Try changing your diet and drinking spearmint tea. My cousin had the same problem when she was younger and she went to alternative medicine. She was on birth control that the doctor prescribed but it only caused weight gain. She's healed now though.
09 ReplyYou probably have PCOS! You should set up an appointment with an OBGYN! My mom has PCOS and she had children but it was a little harder for her
