Look kiddo. The simplest way to put this is that you have energy in and energy out. If you burn more energy than you take in your body will (eventually, after sugar reserves etc) start using up fat to make up for it. Fat is basically energy reserves.
So when it comes to losing weight the best way about it is to control your intake. Meaning you eat a healthy normal amount and you try to keep a varied diet free of fast-food etc. Avoid pasta and similar products will help your stomach to "shrink" in size. Making it easier for you to manage how much you eat. That said it isn't something you should prioritize too much.
Then, what you have to do, is exercise. Exercise doesn't necessarily mean going to the gym so don't be afraid. It means going for a walk during recess or playing imaginary drums while you're sitting still. Its the little everyday things that will keep you slim. I spend four hours a day by my pc. However I am moving my legs around because I suck at sitting still. I am lifting my arms around ever so often and I like to wiggle my body a little to the sides when I feel stiff. These daily very small movements end up helping nearly as much as a workout at the gym would.

Eat less - exercise more. This is the simplest way. Just to put your weight into perspective, I'm a 6'2" rugby player and I weigh 10lbs less than you. Reduce the amount of carbs that you take in, as sharkman says. I'd advise signing up for a teen's exercise class, and avoid snacking at all costs. It's really good that you've realised your weight is an issue - now you just have to work at it!
A good, effective 'diet' is eating smaller portion sizes where your daily intake of fats/simple carbs is relatively low. Crazy binge diets like completely eliminating your carb-intake or eating only greens are unwise to go on as yes, you may lose a bunch of weight initially. Such diets are next to impossible to stick to in the long-run, though, so people will generally end up binging and gaining back way more than they lost once they eventually ditch the diet entirely.
hey there, can i ask your weight or if you are not comfortable saying are you over weight? whats your main issues? xx

Carbs are bad and make you tired. Eat fruit in the morning for a natrual energy boost. Lean meats like poultry and wild game. When eating a meal only eat till you are no longer hungry. 5 small meals will keep your metabolism up. Meal prep. Count your calories, drink only water except for your 3 glasses of milk. 9 hours of sleep and a well rounded work out routine will release all kinds of good chemicals plus a body with more muscle burns more calories.
Just make sure your food is fresh and not processed. Most of your meals should be balanced with a protein source, carb source and fat source, it also helps to throw in some veggies and fruits
just eat the same portion size as you do now, but all healthy, nothing processed. At your 220lbs weight you will lose at least 30 lbs. just by cutting out heavily dense junk food.
Refrain from eating junk food.
Once in a long while is fine
Just don't munch on it everyday
and get rid sugary drinks from your dietHealthy food and exercise.
