Girls: How do you feel about guys that love sport fishing?

I love bass fishing as a sport (catch and release, no live bait). However, I get the idea that a lot of girls think it's mean to hook a fish. A lot of girls that I know just love animals, and I wonder if they think the fact that I fish is a turn off.

Also, do you think these kinds of outdoor activities are dirty? Sure we get our hands scratched up and maybe mud gets into our nails, and it might take a day for it all to come out. Does that matter too much?

I don't see fishing as a turn-off. It's not MY thing, so if the guy I was dating loved it, I might go once in awhile and let him fish with his buddies the rest of the time. As for it being dirty- so what, it's dirt it'll wash off. As long as you shower and wash your hands what do I care? Mean to animals- well, don't torture the fish once you've caught it, throw it back or kill it quickly. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with hunting and fishing and neither one is a turnoff for me, even if they aren't my things. You fish and I'll lay on the dock and read in the sun until you're done. You go hunting, I'll stay home and watch movies you hate that I love.

But,keep in mind I'm a rural girl who doesn't mind getting dirty herself and grew up around guys who hunt and fish so it all seems pretty normal to me.

I like fishing, never thought of it as a sport though. I never went bass fishing, I normally go deep water fishing, and try and catch flounder. I think men are supposed to get dirty, but I wouldn't consider fishing dirty, and as long as you clean up afterward it doesn't matter to me.

Fishing can be a sport, depending how and why you fish. In the case of sport fishing, I'm fishing for recreational purposes or competition.

Some people fish for food, and might also think it's a waste that I'm catch and releasing! I only keep Crappie if I fish out of lakes, but most of the time, I'm doing catch-release bass.

Oh I see, I say do whatever makes you happy, I never went fresh water fishing before, but it sounds like fun!

I love fishing myself and as such want the guy I date to have an interest in it too. If a girl doesn't like the fact that you fish, she should at least respect that YOU enjoy it...otherwise the relationship probably won't work-out.
