What kind of advice do you prefer?

I always find it interesting to read someone's question and then to read what they chose as the "Best Answer".

Sometimes the answers I write are pretty blunt and I even hesitate posting them because I think the person might react badly to it. Sometimes they do, but other times I'm surprised at how open people are to what I have to say and I've even been given "Best Answer" to questions where I've told people I thought they were being immature, insecure, dramatic, etc.

Other times it seems like people already have an answer in mind and ignore any answers (even really good ones) that aren't what they want to hear.

So I'm curious, when you post a question, what kind of answer are you really looking for?

I want the blunt and honest truth, even if it hurts.

I want the truth, but say it nicely/sugarcoat it a bit.

I'm looking for people to validate what I already think.

I don't care, I just like to read a variety of points of views to consider.

Other (please comment)/I just want to see the answers.

Blunt truth.

As you know,I prefer to not sugar coat my answers,so don't do the same.

Some people do some on here with their mind made up yet continue to ask a question and they will only thumb up or give BA to the people or person who agrees with them and tells them what they want to hear.

Don't know why people want sugarcoated answers,no point in asking if you can't handle the truth..

I like honest,generally I ask "opinion" questions or "favorite (blank)" questions along with health questions but if it is a question with a situation and you're giving advice,be honest,slap sense into my head,don't baby me.

The way I determine "Best Answer" depends on the type of question. For a serious question, I want a thorough answer that actually impacts how I view the matter at hand. I want something bold and not generic; I want my thought process stimulated. For a less serious question, I choose "Best Answer" based on which answer was most amusing to me. I appreciate a good sense of humor.

The blunt truth can definitely be helpful and sometimes important, but I like to get a variety of opinions and such, so that I can compare them to each other and my own opinions. There have been many times where I've read answers that I never would have thought of or expected, which can change your whole opinion on something.

I voted D, because to me A and D are sort of one in the same to me. People should be honest with their advice, but ultimately I'm in control of what I do and I prefer to do things that I've thought through and adapted to my specific situation rather than following advice blindly. It might be what I should do, but I hardly ever follow advice without considering all of my options and weighing in on my situation first. Maybe I'm just stubborn though :)

more often that nought the best answer goes to whoever says what the question asker wants to hear. Which is that they are right.

i want the truth, wether it is agreeing with me, or introducing an intellectual debate, I will welcome it.

well...it really depends on the question and my personal take on it. sometimes, I'm looking for an answer that supports my thoughts. but other times, I'm open to other interpretations which are nice because it allows me to see a bigger picture than the one I have in my mind.

Anything that makes me laugh. Camilus often gets best answer on my posts because the dude's hilarious.

I know. I think he's hands down the funniest dude on the site. It's a damn shame he's not on as much as he used to be.
