Its not the hot peope who make it into media - is the unique people. Right now celebrities are thin because thin girls are less common. Back then celebrities were chubby because chubby girls were more rare. For example if you observe paintings from the 1500s - 1800s - the beautiful people look morbidly obese - since everybody was starving back then - fat people - morbidly obese people - were considered beautiful because they were harder to find. Its also why fewer ethnic people survive in the modelling industry - since North Americans tend to view most Chinese people as looking identical to other Chinese people - they are less unique to white people than white people are which is why unique white people make it more as models in North America..

They did. Except that a good amount of them have more class, and more women today I can't even call them women. Makes me almost be ashamed to be one. They was a lot more healthier. And they didn't diet like crazy. The self-esteem was a lot better. Now everybody's depressed. Or woman trying to behave more like men.
They ate Whole Foods instead of processed crap we have today. Even eating healthy today isn’t good enough cause it’s all refined food.
In other counties everyone else is slim too, a few have let go of their bodies as they age but mostly in America being overweight exists everywhere.
We've got widely publicly accepted promotion of plastic surgery, steroids, starvation/purging and the acceptance of muscular women- also more revealing clothing which pressures girls to be harder on themselves when comparing themselves to the plastic and stick skinny models.
Practices are just different between then and now. 50's there was a lot of emphasis in conforming to the norm and just being a housewife. The 60's was sort of the start towards the transformation that we see women have gone through over the years. The trends are different, how socially acceptable things have become, the empowerment women have gone through and the backlash and setbacks really feed into what we see now. A lot of things just play big roles into how many women look, act and live in today's world.
Actually i love them, these are real beauties were women were truly beautiful, nothing artificial injected inside their bodies, everything a man touched in his wife was natural...
It was all great until the beginning of the 2000's

The "hard body" trend didn't start until later. I don't remember when for sure but I think it was at least the late 70s, probably later. So yea, women up until at least the late 70s were a softer build. Even athletic women were softer because they didn't put in effort for low body fat. Low body fat was not even something you heard about.
Keep in mind that all these gyms like you see now are fairly new. For much (most?) of my life they didn't even exist. Those gyms are a fairly new yuppie thing.
On average, women in the past were probably more toned than today. There was far less obesity, they did more work, and were more active all around. The small minority today who go to the gym are the exception.I don't think that exercising is something that girls did back then, I think it was more important to focus on other things. I think stereotypes were more about men using fitness. Although I could be wrong...
ok so never mind... maybe not as many as today.. but I don't know because I was not born in that decade :)
honestly, I've seen some old photos where girls were sexy as hell. I think there were just so many girls publicized that don't fit our current beauty standards that we think women were less attractive. I just think what's considered sexy has changed. Like big butts.
I think women had to do a lot less to be sexy back then.
Guys cared more about making her their girlfriend or wife, than just screwing her
Nowadays a lot of women just want to get screwed by a really hot successful guy. The best way to do that is too look as sexy as possible.Trends are always changing. Women were not expected to be muscular beacause men preferred to dominate them. They were mere objects in a society that could be picked up when beautiful and then thrown away. Anywho beauty standards are constantly evolving, so thicker women were hot back then until we started to show more skin people realized all of the little flaws and had to adjust to wearing less clothes by getting fit and toned.
On average they were much more slim.
Obesity rates have increased dramatically.
When it comes to your examples those are not representative. It's more of a representation of what the dimension of an adult model would be. Even then the selected modern blonde porn star is slimmer than the norm.I don't think it was widely accepted for a woman to openly take care of themselves and there health. Men had that suppressed and under wraps. She was to stay home, cook and clean, and make babies for the men! That was about it. Up until a lot women started the push back. And feminism took off. Then they started doing what they wanted to do..
Look at pictures of nudists from that era compared to nudists today. There were plenty of beautiful women in the 50's & 60's.
1966 promotional still of Welch in the deerskin bikini "became a best-selling poster and turned her into an instant pin-up girl". One of the absolute hottest pictures of all time and that wasn't even my time.I disagree. Women on average today (and men too) are more obese. The obese levels are sky high. These photos aren't a true indication of today's women. For some reason is people think really thin women are sexy. A friend of mine said she wanted to be size zero. I was shocked.
Yes, they were. They were also very conscious about themselves then just as women are today. There just simply wasn't media exposure back then that gave so much emphasis & importance to what was trending.
I think they were just as sexy. It's just that the fashion wasn't as revealing during those old times. If you took the average woman from the 50s and dressed her up in short shorts and a crop top, she would be just as attractive as the average modern woman.
They did have sex appeal and how many men these days crave for stockings and suspenders which were the normal attire when we were growing up. After that came mini-skirts and hot pants in the sixties which was accompanied by the pill and the sexual revolution. It was the best of sexy times
I actually find them more real, natural and healthy than women nowadays. They had natural beauty
Also note, that women then had less cellulite than modern women. That's because they didn't processed food, sweets or foods with pesticides
The ideal body nowadays: skinny but at the same time toned with big boobs and a big b**t is unhealthy and unattainable for the average woman..This is because in the 50's/60's working out wasn't really a thing. That only really took off in the 70's/90's back in Arnold Schwarzeneggers golden days.
Women started going to the gym, eating better and jogging. Its no surprise the standard is much more fit today.
Fashion has also changed, these days clothing shows off the body a lot more, so a nice body is more important. This is one of those things that is subjective and depends on who you ask. What was attractive and the style back then is not really the same as it is now
There were some very fit women back then, the issue is beauty standards changed, so what is featured has changed. But look at sports or dance photos from the 20s and 30s by the way it's magazines that set those standards.
I think they were more sexy personally. They were more feminine. More traditional. They left something to the imagination. They weren’t as superficial, and they dressed more attractively.
For me personally, the ideal period was 1990 when catwalk models were the ideal of beauty.
But we have gone downhill pretty badly since then.its wasn't that they weren't sexy or toned, it was the clothing they had on back then. Compared to the clothing/lingerie we have now
Society had a different perception of the "ideal" body back then in comparison to today.
