I heard it had something to do with the insurance companies which are the middle man in this whole situation. People are not allowed to negotiate with the doctor's or hospital's directly, they have to talk with the insurance companies and well the only thing they care is money and nothing else. Another issue is that since healthcare requires massive amounts of capital, its very difficult to make a lot of hospitals so everybody will compete to reduce prices. As of now the market is almost like oligopoly, ruled by a couple business that charge massive amounts of money because they don't have much competition. Another thing is that the government subsidizes the healthcare sector...hmmmmm WHAT? Whatever happened to letting the market decided what is better for people? Why is the government subsidizing the private sector, I don't know, but to me it seems that there are dark reasons for doing that, maybe some politicians have their peace of cake in the business of healthcare, so obviously they wouldn't want this sector to stop getting subsidize. As the result since the business get subsidize, they are well protected from competition, so they can charge whatever they want without any fear of getting though competition where they will likely compete with prices. Another issue is that the healthcare sector doesn't have a safety net for those who cannot afford, which there are plenty, private healthcare is OK as long as there is safety net for those who cannot afford it, and they don't have one either.

Maybe if the 40 million uninsured Americans built a union and lobbied the politicians like big businesses do then they'd get sh*t done. ...Or they could just play Xbox and eat Cheetos all day instead, that might work also.
