I got out of surgery 4 hours ago. Anyone wanna share a surgery story?

Hello fellow acquaintances. I just got out of surgery because I had appendicitis. I'm gonna be stuck in bed for awhile. Sucks, I had to cancel my road trip to Santa Cruz with my friends this weekend. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had an appendix story to share with me? I'd like to hear about other people's experience. Or if you don't, you can share a story about another surgery or hospital incident. I just wanna hear from some people who understand how I'm feeling right now. 2011 just hasn't been my year. Wisdom teeth out, Mono, etc... but despite all that I'm trying to remain optimistic and be thankful for having such good health care. Thanks you guys :)

my gma had her appendix rupture a few years ago. they did surgery and then her intestines were twisted (they f***ed up) she almost died. I guess they left her open and changed out the gozz every few hours or something. its insane.

i had a csection a little over a year ago.. it SUCKED!

NEVER HAVE A BABY IN DURANGO CO. they screwed me into a csection as well as a lot of other innocent women.

the shot they put in your spine so you can't feel didn't work on me. they said my spine bones are to close together becuase I'm so small. they ended up knocking me out. I woke up and couldn't stop coughin which hurt unbelieveably bad. they wouldn't let me drink water just take a small bite of ice chips every like 30 mins. I was out of it, I had to stop breastfeeding becuase it was killin me. I wasn't eatin because of the oxys no nutrition for me or baby had to switch her to formula

Yeah some people who don't catch it right away get their appendix ruptured and it can sometimes kill you! So glad she came out of that okay. Your csection story is just craaazy. I may not be an expert but that doesn't sound like the proper way to go about it. I don't even want to imagine the pain.

I've only had surgery once.

I broke my nose when I was 17.

I had to get two surgeries, but opted out of the 2nd one because I just graduated was about to take a 2 month trip across the country, camping and such. I had been looking forward to it for so long, my friends were relying on me being the only one with a reliable vehicle, and I didn't want to cancel. So I skipped my 2nd surgery. I turned 18 while I was gone and was no longer covered under my parents health care, so I still haven't gotten the surgery.

I still can't breath very well from my nose. :(

That's a bummer :/ I think people should be able to stay on their parents until they're a little older. Cause most 18 year olds still live with their parents or need financial support while they are getting out in the world and starting their lives. Luckily I'm 17 so my appendix picked a good time to give out. I hope you get that surgery some day, it can't be fun to have trouble breathing.

Haha, yeah. Senior year. High School. Broke my finger first football game of the season. I was a captain after spending 4 years there as a Varsity player. I kept playing with a broken finger for a month. Got so bad, I tore the ligaments and the tendon in my right ring finger in the knuckle near the finger nail.

Was so painful when I broke it I remembered but I kept playing even when I did feel the pop.

So I had surgery, when I did, the guy who put me to sleep said, "You're going to have the best sleep you ever had." and I said. "Sounds good man". Last thing I know, I wake up dressed up on the hospital bed in my clothes, arm in a sling, hand all wrapped up and two wires put into finger.

yup... sucked haha. was all drugged up and grumpy lol

Aw man that sucks. I don't play a sport, but I like to exercise and won't be able to for a month so I feel ya. I had a little bit of the opposite experience, the drugs (before the surgery) made me super happy. Afterwords I was just groggy and loopy. And instead of waking up in clothes I woke up without my undies! I'm like, "uh guys, what went on while I was out cold." lol turns out they just had to get them out of the way to make an incision.

It really is! They let me stay until I was fully recovered, but the last time I had to be put to sleep, they sent me home before I was conscious and woke up incredibly confused on the couch and kept asking how the hell I go there!

When I was 18 I got a major infection in my left calf from a gravel filled skate boarding accident. Ended up going into surgery so they could cut out the infected area. I almost lost my leg because of it. (the infection almost made it to my knee before I went to the hospital).

They didn't put me under but shot me full of morphine an hour before the surgery. I felt pretty much everything while they were sticking 3-4 fingers into my calf and digging out rotten muscle. It was so incredibly painful, even with the morphine. I ended up with a 6" scar that is completely numb.

My goodness! I can't believe they didn't knock you out for that! I sure as hell wouldn't do that without being knocked out. What a trooper!

only when I was about 4-5 years old,cause of hyperphoria,i had to spend days in the hospital while they rummaged through my damn eyes,and after that I ended up looking like a pirate,i had to wear an eye-patch for a couple days,now my eyes are better,but I might have to have surgery again since it's not completely fixed

OH, that would suck to have to get surgery again :/ on the bright side...I LOVE PIRATES. I'd wear an eye patch even if I didn't have to!

I've only be on anesthesia once and it was when I got my wisdom teeth pulled out last year I believe. That's pretty much my story lol hurt for about a week.

I bet your glad all those experiences are over with :p. 2012 til now hasn't been my year lol. I had my rib removed and neck muscle removed last year from surgery

When I was young, I had surgery on my toungue. I remember just as I came out, I asked for a peanut butter sandwich.

I was so hungry!

Why'd you need tongue surgery? I've never heard of anyone getting that. I peanut butter and jelly sandwich sounds so good right now but my appetite is gonna take a few days to come back to me.

My toungue was stuck to the bottom of my mouth. SOme kind of genetic mutation, They had to cut some of the tendons to free it up so I could talk properly.
