Look, honestly… a medical student does not decide to study gynecology because he/she wants to peer and poke around women’s nether regions. For at least two reasons:
Firstly, because they find out pretty quickly what those bits look like and any curiosity they may have had has definitely been quenched by the time they start practicing as doctors.
Secondly, in my experience, the reason I have most often heard why doctors choose gynecology is because it is a largely positive branch of medicine (compared, for example, to oncology), dealing with birth, pregnancy and helping new life be born. Of course it also has its sad and tragic sides, but the generally health-positive aspect and the fact that most of the time they will be dealing with healthy patients - that’s a big plus and the most common reason I’m hearing.
So im my opinion - it really, really, really doesn’t make any difference if your gynecologist is male or female, as long as you as a patient have a good, trusting working relationship with them. If you as a patient have a preference for a man or a woman gynecologist - that’s fine. It’s your right to choose what makes you feel comfortable. My wife has had good and not-good experiences with both men and woman gynecologists (nothing dramatic - just differences of opinion which led to a loss of trust). The not-so-good led to her changing doctor, which is also okay.
