I need tips to survive and keep cool for me and my cat as the 97 degree heatwave comes? I have no a/c?

-Make sure your cats' water is fresh (I change it every couple of hours during the summer)

-The usual would be for the cat to sleep most of the time during the afternoon time (the hottest part of the day is around 4 to 6pm in most suburban areas, the accumulated heat) so you should pay attention close to this, your cat might pick the best spot to nap, which is usually tile floor, and in the shade, a corner maybe, if your cat sleeps comfortably and relaxed that's a good sign, if your cat is restless then that might be a same they're overheating (panting and lethargy are bad signs.) Also try to feed them wet food, instead of dry food.

-Since my cat is short haired, and we get temps of about 110F some times, my cat doesn't mind if I just quickly shower her with a hose, or dip her in a bucket of water, as long as I do it quickly and dry her right away, massage included and all. If your cat doesn't like water much, you should try still to damp your cat with a washcloth and cold water, especially the belly.

Keep the shades down. Don;t use the stove. No A/c- use some fans if you have them. Wear loose clothing. Drink plenty of water and make sure the cat does as well. Don't do a lot.

Get window ac units and fans.
Get blackout curtains and keep the doors and windows closed.
Stay hydrated frequently. Water you aren’t using, put in the fridge. Don’t use this water for the cat, it doesn’t cool them down like it does for us. It will actually overheat them.
Don’t be ashamed to take frequent cool baths to cool off.

In that case you can buy portable AC units for a couple of hundred dollars. You only plug them in when you need them to keep electricity bills down.

You're welcome. Be careful NOT to buy an air cooler. they look the same and are about 25% of the price, but they are in effect useless.

How they work is. Inside there is a box. You take out the box and slip it in the freezer. Then you switch the fan and the air from the frozen box is sprayed around the room. They don't work trust me. Type into a search engine.. Cheapest Portable AC Unit (Then enter the area you live) that is the best way to find a cheap one.

Keep your windows open, drink plenty of water, take a towel and drench it in water then put it in front of a fan, sleep during the day, and/or buy an a/c.
