Have you ever gotten really sick after a bee/hornet/wasp 🐝 sting?

I got a bee sting one morning. It did not really hurt until about 6 hours later. I asked a paramedic about it and he said if I haven;t had a reaction by now I should be okay. At 2AM I got up to go to the bathroom. The whole side of my face was swollen and one eye was completely shut. I was having trouble breathing.
I had to get a cortisone shot.
You should see your doctor.
Yikes! Thanks for sharing that! I’m definitely going to see an allergist. I saw a doctor that night and he said if I’m ok breathing, I’m fine and prescribed steroids…
“Should” be ok isn’t very assuring when you are the one hearing it… 😑
“If I should die before I wake…” 🤣 I’ve got a morbid sense of humor… but seriously thanks! It’s been 2 days since the sting and I’m slowly feeling better
Ok so you're having an allergic reaction to the toxins in the sting, first things first take a fast acting antihistamine, make sure you drink plenty of fluids.
Have you had any swelling in your face or throat? Or any breathing difficulty? Where was the sting?
It was Sunday, I took Benadryl. Did a tele doctor appt. He said I was fine because I had no trouble breathing. Prescribed steroids. Sting was on bottom of tricep.
Thanks for clarifying that it’s an allergic reaction. I figured it was. I am scheduled to visit an allergist.
2 days later and my stomach is still sore and my chest still hurts, but feels much better than it did
Thanks Dan!
You’re welcome and thank you! Yes, better each day
I've never been stung by a bee, a hornet, or a wasp. You should see your doctor about that. I hope you feel better soon
Thanks!
I have gotten fever from wasp, and bees
Are you allergic?
Yep. Severely
sat on a wasp, and a bee came into my house and stung back of my head
caused breathing problems at the time, and lots of swelling
How do you manage your allergy?
I need an epi-pen, but, no dr will give it
I needed totake a tylenol, and use ice packs, with that bee sting, I had to get that stinger out right away
oh yeh, I had an inhalor handy, and used that for the breathing issue
Yikes!!! I’ve had lots of stings but never reacted so bad. Sounds terrible
Have you taken a benadryl?
Yes, I took Benadryl and the doctor prescribed steroids. I’m feeling better each day
well glad you took a benadryl and are feeling better each day. and thanks for this helpful reward
is the steroids the steroid cream?
No, steroid pills
And it’s like a bad hangover or a bad cold. Better each day! Thanks!
Do you think an epipen would make you feel better faster? Or would it just be safe to have in case the reaction becomes life threatening?
Both reasons. The breathing issues for me during that time, made me pass out, that's dangerous, sure glad I didn't die. I need the epipen
I’ll be asking these questions soon myself. Thank you

Nope. Just some swelling, some minor pain and itchiness
Yep, that was me for probably hundreds and hundreds of stings. Alas it is no more the case
54 bee stings while riding my bicycle around Pawcatuck, Rhode Island.
Holy smokes! I'm glad you lived to tell about it!
The same day!!! ? 😮
Did you require emergency care?
Any lingering effects? Are you more susceptible now?
Lmao good luck bro
No, I've been stung by bees twice and a wasp once. I did not get sick, the wasp sting hurt worse.
Sounds like you should go to urgent care.
This was Sunday. I did a tele doc appt that night while I felt like I was dying… but I always seek a second opinion
I've never been stung :)
That’s amazing
Mosquitoes 🦟 are a never ending pest. I’ve grown accustomed to them 😑
