Can anti inflammatory gel help mitigate long term sun damage?

Ok I’m not very well versed in the topic but I can’t really find help online for this. I know if you get sunburnt treatment (burn creams, anti inflammatories, aloe Vera etc) is there to soothe the pain but can it help reduce some of the long term damage too? Or is this just wishful thinking?

Stay clear of anti inflams as they actually make your skin more prone to burning.

Deep moisturising is the key to speedy healing from sunburn. Aloe vera and vitamin E oil are brilliant.

If its particularly painful, there are products that contain a mild topical anaesthetic that are great. I learnt the best application of them after nude sunbaking resulted in some very uncomfortably burnt areas...

Cheers mate. Can this help with long term damage too? Like skin cancer, skin aging etc?

Not really. If you have melanoma cells nothing will assist aside from surgical removal or chemo.

It will help with ageing to a point. It's not going to reverse ageing, but will help to slow it, and keep more elasticity in your skin.

Gravity is just as bad an ageing enemy. And you can't fight that one.

Because possible skin cancer is from the radiation of the sun damaging your DNA in your skin cells.

Long term stuff yeah. Like if you reduce the inflammation of the burn can it help prevent some of the long term damage?

Probably not... Maybe it does something cosmetically but it won't prevent skin cancer.

I mean the human body can always heal to a degree no matter the damage as long as it gets the nutrients and care it needs
