What is the most important thing you can talk about with a new male friend?

I'm tired of the weather or what sports I like. Why ca't we talk about something more meaningful?

Let the conversation flow. You may have to start out with those. If you do though, bring up something else. Say you are in fact talking about sports. When its your turn to talk, say something like "don't ask how, but that somehow reminds me of this one time I was out with my roommates and X funny thing happened..." That happens to me all the time, I'm talking about one thing and it somehow makes me think of something completely different. Or when you're starting the conversation, try as much as you can to avoid sports and weather. Ask him where he's from, ask him about his family, where he went to high school/college, whatever comes to mind really.

I love it when women talk about what they want guys to know about, for one thing. I learn from that. I also don't like 'small talk.'

why would it be different between a male and female? Just say what comes to mind and don't try to impress him
