Anyone here gotten Omicron? What was your experience with it?

Last week of Feb 2020, I got covid. I didn't go to the hospital, but instead stayed home and took cold medicine. It was a crazy, month long experience that left me bedridden for a while.
Since I already had covid, I didn't feel the need to get vaccinated. Then the new variant came out, so Aug 2021 I got Pfizer.
Now Jan 11, 2022 I got sick. Turns out I have covid again after getting tested at an urgent care. My symtoms for the first 5 days were:
101 fever (lasted only 1 day)
Fatigue (5 days)
Loss of appetite (2 days)
Sore throat (3 days)
Lost in voice (5 days)
Body aches (leg and neck)
After that my voice started to come back day by day, but I started coughing uncontrollably and spitting up phlegm which stopped on the 19th. Now it's mostly a cough here and there if I talk too much or laugh too hard.
Overall the new variant wasn't that bad for me. It's a millions times more tolerable than the first time I got sick; however, my experience is thanks to the vaccination and the fact my body already build up an immune response to covid.
I have what seems to be Omicron. I finish isolation tomorrow. It has been a pretty easy ride. Worst bit is not being able to go out for 10 days. The vaccine that all 5 of us, in the family have had, seems to be working. I have mixed freely at home with the others, and none of them have become infected. I probably picked it up from an unvaxed person, in the busy cafe where I work.
Compare this to the earlier variant I had a year ago. It ripped through 4 out of the 5 of us. The vax had only just become available, and it was outside our age group. My mum and her partner, and my partner, got through it after a couple of weeks. I ended up with long covid, which stretched my recovery to about 6 months.
@Jessica405 you work in a cafe? π€
@Jessica405 I wish you could serve me food there π
@Jessica405 I'd excitedly shriek like a girl finally meeting g@g's famous JuicyJessy before saying yes π
You may have picked it up from a VAXXED person. People who are fully vaxxed can catch and spread the virus as easily as an unvaxxed person.
So stop with the misinformation.
@BillyBalls I suggest you do some proper research. The reason for the infection rate in UK coming down steeply is because the vax is slowing the spread. The vax trains the immune system to be ready for an infection. In fighting an infection, it reduces the number of viruses in the body. Gives a less severe infection, AND lowers the number of viruses exhaled. Therefore vaxed people are less likely to pass it on.
@BillyBalls And I did say I PROBABLY picked it up from an unvaxed person. Which if my knowledge of English language is correct means I could have got it from a vaxed person, but less likely.
@Jessica
βThe vax does not stop you from getting Covid.β
Tell me again why we had to mandate the Covid vaccine? Wasnβt it to stop the spread.
No one sees the problem with mandating masks that donβt stop the spread and a vax that doesnβt stop the spread but weβre being told we have to do these things to stop the spread. π€·π»ββοΈ
Never mind. That kind of free thinking is not allowed in our new communist paradise. Iβll stop thinking and obey now.
@Exterminatore The vax stops you getting a bad infection. Latest info on our BBC news today is that 2 jabs plus booster reduces chances of death by 90%.
It also helps stop you passing it on to other people simply because you have less viruses to exhale. I was the only one of our family to get it. Unlike last year when 4 out of 5 of us got it.
I should point out that because of our vaccine status of 60% boosted against 24 or 25% in US, we have today removed all restrictions that affect nearly everyone. No masks, no covid vax passes.
I think it was mandated in many places simply because of the low uptake. That low uptake will just prolong the pandemic.
@jessica
Pay attention to what you are saying and what you believe regarding this.
βIt also helps stop you passing it onβ
No it doesnβt. Inoculation would do that. Youβve already established the Covid vax does not inoculate. If it helped stop the spread we wouldnβt have people getting sick with Covid and the Covid numbers blowing up right?
So weβre back to a vaccine that doesnβt inoculate to stop the spreadβ¦and wearing masks to stop the spreadβ¦. neither of which actually stop the spread. Soooooβ¦β¦. why are we doing these things then?
@Exterminatore You are talking about US? In UK we have removed all restrictions. Cases have gone down by half from their peak.
How do you account for the other 4 members of my family NOT getting it when I have been freely mixing with them? Keep in mind before we were vaxed, 4 out of 5 of us got it, about a year ago.
If you stay unvaxed, you, like many others, are just prolonging the pandemic.
You got any better suggestions how to end the pandemic?
@Jessica
I have been vaccinated.
I canβt account for the other members of your family not getting it. There are a lot of factors that play into if someone will get it or not. How do you know they didnβt get it and arenβt asymptomatic? Additionally you have already admitted the vax does not inoculate and so have the makers of the vax. We know for fact it doesnβt stop the spread, just lessens symptoms if you get it. That is objective fact. Why the rest of your family hasnβt got Covid is not relevant. No explanation is required. We know for fact the vax does not stop the spread, so no need to account for your family members who have not got the vax and are not known to have been infected with Covid.
I do have suggestions. First of all the overwhelming majority of ones that end up seriously ill or dead are those with existing health problems. Those people should get the vax, wear masks, social distance etc.
The rest of us donβt need to worry about it. I had Covid before I had the vax. It was not a big deal. This disease is not that deadly or dangerous for the majority of us. Itβs not much different from the flu. So no shutting down society, no mask mandates, no vaccine mandates. You wanna do those things, fine. Donβt want to. Fine. This has been blown way out of proportion and the reasons for the justification of these things are absurd. Meanwhile we have our government and social media being concerned with the spread of misinformation so much so they feel the need to sensor opinions not in line with their viewsβ¦meanwhile they enforce vax mandates and mask mandates that we know donβt work and then lie about the need to do these things. A bit of hypocritical. We know masks donβt stop the spread. Why are we forced to wear them then? We know the vaccine doesnβt stop the spread. Why are people being essentially forced to take it?
@Exterminatore Because they won't get it voluntarily. You have restrictions in US? Because so few people are vaxed! Carry on with your restrictions. We are now free of them.
I got hit pretty hard. None of the previous variants could touch me, so this one set out to avenge its cousins.
- back aches
- neck aches
-headaches
- dramatically reduced sperm count
- shriveled scrotum
- yet, a hyperactive hypothalamus, so the worst feeling of sexual frustration ever
- altered states of consciousness
- congestion
- night sweats
- fever
- persistent chills
- rapid weight loss
- diarrhea
- extreme fatigue
- exacerbated depression
- serious brain fog ( I felt like I was turning into Joe Biden! And few thoughts are scarier than that!)
- everything tasted like garbage unless it was citrus
- almost no sense of smell, except for anything salty or sweaty
I've never experienced such evil before. And I've survived a lot of seasonal flus and even had pneumonia once. Normally, I never get more than a cold. It's bacterial infections I have to watch out for. My skin is pretty weak against those.
It wasn't all bad. I acquired a taste for some new tea flavors. And would love to keep the weight off.
Ireland is lifting restrictions they are in trouble now
I just got over it. I am fully vaccinated but I didnβt get the booster yet. Ironically I was supposed to get the booster on the same day I first started having symptoms.
Anyway it was like having the flu. I had a fever, chills, night sweats, dizziness and was very fatigued. I was literally in a coma all last weekend. There was one 24 hour period were I slept literally 20 hours.
Anyway I didnβt need hospitalization. If my fever kept up I would of went to the ER but it only lasted one evening. The fatigue as another thing too. Just wiped out.
Good news is I have natural immunity now.

I have never had covid. I know a few people who had covid recently and it was most likely the omicron variant. They said that it was like a bad flu but it was not life-threatening in any way. My community has a population of 1M+ and we have had 12 "covid-related" deaths in the past 7 days.
No I never had and you know why because I make sure to clean my house. Clean is the key from not getting omicron and covid. This is why I used bleach for cleaning I buy 20gallons of bleach. Yes cleaning is very important and bleach is super important. I never got sick why because I clean with bleach. I don't understand how can someone live in a messy home.
I had the original covid... it was awful.
I had a cold, but tested negative
Several family members and friends had omicron, was a mild cold... were vacced
I know of several people in bad shape, one with delta, not sure of other. on ventilators,
I have my vaccine and I havenβt caught itβ¦. Iβm still scared to though, since LITERALLY half of my school is gone because they are ALL sick with COVID. Iβm pretty much just waiting for it to hit me. Iβm lucky it hasnβt.
Also, I understand that having your vaccine has nothing to do with avoiding COVID, it just helps fight it off.
I had covid shortly after contracting some kind of e-coli food poisoning. And let me tell you, I'd rather have covid 100x over versus whatever the hell that was. Covid was really bad sore throat, cough, runny nose. But at least I wasn't blowing chunks from both ends.
Assumed positive right now on day 5. My sister and niece both are positive, I took an at home test that was negative, but I think I took it too soon. I have the same headache and stuffy nose as them. No fever, sore throat or chest congestion, so completely different from my first run of it.
I got it and the first 2 days were awful. But that was because I couldn't eat or drink without puking. Other than the nausea it wasn't even as bad as the flu. I got nausea medication at a doctor and then it was smooth sailing.
I had it a few weeks ago. Had a bit of a fever for a day, a headache, slept it off and was fine the next day. Thank goodness I got my vaccines or I could have diedβ¦ Oh wait Iβm unvaccinated, never mind.
Runny nose, high temperature, extremely tired all the time (I got tired just from sitting in a chair) like you've been in hard physical labor, headache and pain all over your body especially lower back, ass and legs
I currently have it. For me it's basically bad sore throat with intense coughs, runny stuffy nose, feeling warm, bit of ear pain, difficulty breathing a little
were you vacced?
@lightbulb27 yeah, the first 2
I did got it. Just had a fever, chills and my mouth tasted bitter but other than that, i got cured a day and a half after. Omicrom isn't really as deadly as the first variant.
Just because you tested positive doesnβt mean you have shit. I got a flu for about a week, wasnβt nearly as bad as Iβve had before this whole covid nonsense, but a bunch of people in my city got it at the same time so it may have been omicron.
I seems like people would have no way of knowing whether they had omicron vs one of the other types of covid.
I can't believe you people still believe in this nonsense. Why is it only people like me that believe its a fake pandemic are not getting sick?
My cousins wife died from it. Still anti vax and Anti mask for those who donβt want to do those things for what itβs worth. I had Covid in March but it wasnβt Omicron. That wasnβt out yet.
I was tested positive for COVID-19 in late December so I probably got something like that but Iβm better now I never had problems Just started feeling tired later
I had it. It wasn't as bad as when I first got COVID... my main symptom was brain fog. I was very forgetful for a few days
take lions mane mushroom. it makes neurons grow in your brain
I had a sore throat for one day and I have underlying health conditions. I wonder how many people actually know what really is going on?
Iβm not sure because I have gotten sick twice over the past 2 years, and I never got tested so I donβt know what to say
Depends on your vaccination level. Unvaccinated have/will have a rough go of it.
Family friend of mine is unvaccinated and just had the typical cold symptoms. Different for everyone π
I know a large portion of both and there doesnβt seem to be any coherent pattern to it.
@DarkWinterNights cognitive dissidence
My whole house got it. It wasn't that bad for triple/double/single vaxxed people (different age groups.)
I have friends who got it. All were vaxxed. Itβs mild and the flu.
Not yet, but within the next few months it will be nearly inevitable to get infected with it.
Just like a head cold. Sucked for few days and done
I got every wave and yes it gives me a fever, then hits my lungs then give my heat pain
I had it , its only a heavy cold * IF ALL VACCINES HAVE BEEN DONE* .
My boyfriend had it. Heβs asymptomatic.
Probably had it last week. Itβs a cold
Its a fucking common cold.
Regular cold symptoms and tired.
Nope never
