I guess you learn to live with it. I believe its permanent however there are things you can do to alleviate the symptoms.
First of all, it's all brain chemistry. So there are things you can do physically to actually improve your stress, anxiety and depression levels:
-Sleeping early
-Setting up a routine (that's incredibly hard but it pays off bigtime)
-Making small incremental changes to make your life better, if I ever feel overwhelmed, a really good technique is to just look for one small thing that I can do right now, that would make my life just a bit better. Could be as simple and hanging my coat in the right place, these tiny changes tend to snowball quite easily and you can end up handling a lot of shit that way.
-Meditation (don't do it personally, but I've heard its good for you)
-Exercise, this is particularly useful (just make sure you don't push yourself too hard that'll spike your cortisol levels and make you even more stressed out)
-Diet, this is incredibly important. Do you drink enough water? Do you eat enough food? If that's taken care of, you can start cutting down on certain unhealthy foods incrementally, eating more balanced will definitely change how you feel.
-Fresh air and sunshine, vitamin E deficiency will make you feel depressed. You need to be out, every day, air your brain out, get some sunshine on you. It helps.
Then you can take care of the social aspect. Now if you're at a point where anxiety literally stops you from going out the door, you can get social interaction online. But make sure it's positive, that's important. But you also eventually will need to step out the door, don't punish yourself for not doing it and reward yourself for when you do go out. Build it up, and eventually build up talking to people. Having friends and talking with them is something that can get you out of your head. Eventually get a girlfriend.
You can also get a pet, they're proven to help boost your mood. And get therapy. Just like you'd see a doctor if you had pneumonia, if your brain chemistry is all fucked up you can go see a therapist.
These are all small coping mechanisms, none of them is a miracle cure. Each of them might make you feel 1% better, but if you accumulate enough of these, you'll eventually be able to feel normal. Or so I hope. That's the theory at least.00 Reply

+1 yThere was a time when I was about 18 when I decided to accept the depression as, "I am always depressed, that's me, that's it."
It worked. I tried to get other people to do this and they couldn't grasp the concept.
Now, what I do is, push it away, it is too unhealthy and I will just suffer more if I let it continue. My wife died in 2021 so another big test. Grieving is just like depression, the solution is the same. I just stop it, push it out, don't let it back in. If you think you feel bad now, just keep feeling bad and you will regret it. You can get very ill from depression, I depressed myself into a heart condition and a wheelchair 10 years ago. I'm good now. I realized what happened and how to prevent it. I almost fell into the same trap when my wife died.
But I recognized the trail and put an end to it. Use your mind. Control your thoughts, take back your life. You could try this; Meditation is the clearing of your mind, controlling your thoughts, thinking nothing. It's not satanic, it's just stopping all the noise in your head. Close your eyes, be quiet, try to think no thoughts.20 Reply
As someone who has an anxiety and depression disorder it’s an illness. Just as painful as physical pain (if not more). I’m sorry that you have days like that, and I genuinely from the bottom of my heart hope you feel better soon. I know how much it sucks :(
I personally feel like we don’t get better we just learn to live with. Honestly I’ve had anxiety all my life and since I was a kid and then the depression started kicking in as I got older. And I feel like there’s been periods in my life where I’ve been on top of my mental health but then there’s been times when I really just don’t want to live.
I feel like the anxiety and depression is always here but being self aware about what triggers it is really important. I’ve found that when I avoided triggers (mine would be stress, bad relationships, unhealthy lifestyles) my mental health was soooo much better (although it was still there).
So in essence it’s always there you just have to take it one step at a time and manage it by taking care of yourself and most importantly avoiding things that will trigger it. When making a decision ask yourself - would this trigger my mental health? If there’s a 1% chance the answer is yes then don’t do it. Just don’t.16 Reply- +1 y
I think that we all have had our ups and downs in life, especially in this era the depression is so big because of everything we hear and see in the world, this new lifestyle only brought pain and misery to people, the lack of morals and values, also traditions made everyone become worst... etc
I believe that real love and a real marriage are the real key to eliminate the depression and anxiety from it's roots, even if the married couple had a long rough times and problems but still they will be more satisfied ans more at ease than a wealthy person who is single and lonely!
I believe that when you find the real love of life princess rapunzel all these negative thoughts and bad times will be just a memory from you're past and tou won't believe how much a hug and a kiss from you're future man are a lot more effective than any pill or activity that you had done before...
That's my opinion 😌 - +1 y
@TonyMetal___86 I have also heard a lot of people come out and say that more young people are suffering with mental health issues because we live in an increasingly digital and complicated superficial life. As humans we were meant to live a very simple life and all these 'unnatural' things that have become so common to our lifestyles trigger mental health illnesses. I couldn't agree more and since I have been limiting my digital usage and focussing on *real life* and being *in the moment* my mental health has improved tremendously.
I also totally agree... as a young virgin who's never really been treated well by a man I feel like being married to a good man who's going to love me and respect me will help me a lot. I hope it happens one day... for both of us lol. - +1 y
Very true miss alyssa rapunzel, the social media and internet puts a lot of pressure on boys and girls and a lot of girls you see them posting the same question again and again about their looks because they seem to never have that self confidence and do not accept themselves the way they are, they thinj that the norm is to be a model only while the majority of these insta models are fakes and have used a lot of photoshop and filters...
It's a dream these days to find a real natural beauty, i always support and encourage the girls to accept themselves the way they are and be happy for it because girl have a unique beauty and beautiful traits 😊
The men who treated princess rapunzel in a bad way aren't men at all, because a real man will quickly notice that you're a rare gem and he will love you so much, keeps you hugged, takes good care of you and you will be his everything forever...
You deserve all the good things princess rapunzel, you were born to be loved and to always smile, the things that you have inside of you are priceless 😌 - +1 y
You're welcome 😌
+1 yI think it never goes away. It will always be part of our lives and us.
Even when I’m feeling good it’s like depression and anxiety are always there, crippling. The thing is I can feel when I’m spiralling, but I choose to ignore it and “run away” from these two devils (depression and anxiety) and then it bites me back...
So yeah, I guess they never go away. You just learn to live with them. With experience, you learn what triggers them and you try to stay away from it but there will always be wavy periods, I think. There will be good times when we are feeling happy and thinking they finally wet away and we got better and on the other hand, there will be a time when we will feel like we are sinking and that history is repeating.
There will be days when we get out of bed without a problem, when we feel enthusiastic wanting to accomplish everything and they will be days when we simply doesn’t have the strength to get out of bed and doesn’t want to deal with the world, our jobs or studies but we have too keep trying and moving, hoping we will be truly happy one day ☺️10 Reply

+1 yWe simply learn to live with it and cope with it. These these don’t go away, unfortunately, because that’s just how the chemicals in our brain are.
Sometimes it takes medication or therapy to cope with it and make it manageable. Sometimes people take medications and do therapy to get the best results on managing it. Anxiety and depression can be debilitating for some people, and if it is, therapy and medications are highly suggested.28 Reply- +1 y

@TonyMetal___86 Yeah I mean the mediciations were never really a longterm solution for me. They were like painkillers. Also the side effects are quite serious it's important to look into them and weigh out the pros and cons before going into them.
I for example kept getting brain zaps (very scary), no appetite to eat, somehow gained weight and also my body would no longer feel aroused. Like physically just couldn't. And then I realised that this could be permanent and since then I stopped taking the meds. Just not worth it for me. - +1 y
@Alyssa_11 that's true, people need to search about natural healings because they are the best, imagine if there was no love in this world, no care, no faith, no nothing, who would want to live in such an animalistic world?
Hello, I am in my mid 30s and suffer from both; depression (suicidal thoughts) and anxiety (OCD). I underwent therapy and I can say that the severity reduced 75% as i got to know that these were mere illnesses and the rest I have to work daily to keep out of my head. It's like diabetes, you get treatment at the hospital, but you have to make diet and lifestyle changes and manage the disease.
20 Replyehh it's kind of a neither. depression is a mental illness that can be cured, it just takes a lot of time and perseverance. anxiety depends; if it's because of a trauma it might be possible to get rid of it. but in most cases, it doesn't go away and you just have to learn how to cope with it so it isn't as severe. but in both cases, something can be done to be helped with either mental illness it just takes a lot of work.

+1 yThey never fully go away we learn to cope, and we distance ourselves. I find constructive distractions the best. Get busy get involved with something anything! Lots of us become work-a-holics its best if its something that requires you to work with others and on a regular basis have a routine. For me (ex-military) routine and structure is extremely important!

+1 yThey absolutely can, however just like any other illness it needs to be treated. If left untreated it won’t go away and will probably get worse unless you make a change. The first step is the most difficult and that is asking a professional for help to explore your options for treatment.

+1 yNot had mine go away, but then again I've yet to have the root cause dealt with (lonliness) so not expecting it to until that gets sorted. The Catch 22 is I'm unlikely to find someone while depressed. Isn't it a wonderful world we live in.
