Yeah yeah yeah diet and exercise, I don't need tips on WHAT to do, but how do I mentally keep myself going?
Honestly, success in your weight loss journey is based on if you can have self discipline long enough for the habits to kick in and then you can do the habits effortlessly. Think about how all this difficulty will last for 2-3 months, and after you’ll definitely get the hang of it. On the bad days, you have to just stop thinking and be more action-oriented. Stop thinking about the perfect way to motivate yourself when you aren’t in the mood—just count down 5 4 3 2 1 and then do whatever action is needed next in the moment. I know you’re looking for that great, juicy answer, but the truth is that you’re never gonna feel motivated all the time and even if you use the good advice in the other comments, it might work when you feel slightly unmotivated, but the only thing that’s going to get you through the severe lack of motivation we all get from time to time will be self discipline and not thinking TOO deep about motivating yourself when you’re unmotivated. Or else you’ll sit there trying to motivate yourself when really, you have to get your ass up and do it. But some pointers: don’t look at your body excited for changes, and instead focus more on how it feels to be in your body when you eat healthy and exercise. Also, stop using social media because there is so much photoshop, and you might think you’re not good enough when in fact you are, but all these attractive women with nice bodies online have either work done or photoshop. Another thing is sometimes when things seem so difficult when you have a lack of motivation, imagine yourself doing it. Like, maybe I’m sitting on my couch unmotivated and know I have to do my homework. I imagine myself slowly getting off the couch, walking to my desk, deliberately visualizing what materials I’d bring out, some random question I’d start doing, etc. and suddenly everything becomes easier in my opinion after I visualized the steps. You can also visualize the end result: the general body shape you’re going for. That’s all that I can think off, and I really hopes this helps!

It’s really not that hard. You just have to want to, and if you fall down along the way, know that it’s not the end of your whole diet/ weight loss journey. Just pick yourself back up and continue where you left off. You’ll notice faster results if you exercise, and noticeable results is always a great motivator. Take a new picture of yourself in the mirror every month and when you reach your desirable weight, you can post a video of all your screen shots so you can inspire others.

i basically just kept to a schedule that really didn't hurt much
to stay motivated you need to make sure you're not overwhelmed
so dont switch your diet
keep eating what you like
besides for smaller meals - lunch will be a salad, breakfast will be small but it will be something
i honestly didn't do loads of exercise for myself but walks were good
also eat off smaller plates, you won't really notice a difference then
and i know that all sounds like tips on what to do
but following those things instead of just the huge goal of diet and exercise is how you're gonna stay motivated

give away/ throw away all junk food. And by junk I mean sweets and chips that will only make you binge.

make it fun you yourself. go grocery shopping and get food that you enjoy and is also healthy. After doing so sit down and make a meal plan for yourself. Switch up the meals and be creative.

whilst exercising think about why you wanted to start the weight loss journey, trust me it will motivate you to finish the exercises.

Like, I like being almost vegan because it makes me proud because I’m making choices that are good for the environment I just also lost weight. Or my mom she lost weight because she loves to dance and her stomach was getting in her way.
Choose healthy foods that are delicious and exercises or activities that are fun. Mix it up so it doesn’t get boring, and get at least one partner involved for accountability. Set short term and long term goals. Plan little “cheats” based on achievements. They should be progressively gooder based on the difficulty of achieving your goals. You could follow inspirational celebrities and athletes on social media too.
At work I keep my team motivated with a daily "standup." We stand and each person says 1) what I accomplished yesterday 2) what I'm going to accomplish today and 3) what are the roadblocks towards accomplishing today's goals. You could try this, because it gives everyone a sense of accomplishment talk about what they have achieved and helps clear the path by verbalizing what's preventing your from moving forward.

Start with your sleep schedule and your nutrition. High quality foods and consistant sleep schedule.

And you keep doing that daily until you notice a change in those areasare you analytical? if so keep a spread sheet of what you eat, what exercises you do, and how much weight you lost or muscle mass you gained. competitive? nobody better then to compeat with yourself. no way you let those bad numbers creep up when you are tracking them. or you could just play the cell phone game pokemon go with your kids every day like i do and walk 3 or 4 kilomiters.
What helped my my uncle was:
1. Get the LoseIt app to track your weight everyday. This will motivate you by seeing weeks and months of progress.
2. Put a calendar on the wall near your kitchen and write your weight down everyday. That way you see it each time you go for food.
3. I looked at your picture you look fine. I hope you don't have an eating disorder or are trying to meet unrealistic beauty standards. But just think about all the homeless people you are saving because you're not stuck on disability and leeching off the system. Think about all the children that are able to get disability and health care because you put in the work to take care of yourself and not be lazy. Feel proud of good deeds. You did your part and should feel proud.
Make any small changes you can easily stick with, get used to them and gradually reduce it more and more, because that's what will keep you going mentally, make it easy so you don't think about it too much and it becomes the norm.
Either do it or don't. I've never found a way to keep people motivated. If you're lazy, you're just lazy, and you're stuck with the extra weight. And the need to be "motivated" to do what you know is the best for you, says that you're just inherently lazy.
Don't think of it as weight loss. Think of it as health investment.

Join a group or app (I use MyFitnessPal) to help keep track of what your doing and set some long-term and short-term goals. Get some good, active, supportive friends on said app or group and share ideas, experiences and push each other to stay consistent
What always works for me is actually seeing the results, that’s what drives me to continue attempts at fitness and maintaining a healthy weight.
You have to want to. No motivation will work without the want. Same for keeping working out. When you know how good it feels to be at your peak, its worth the effort to stay there.
Simple, you gotta see the future if you don't. And ask yourself every time you don't feel like it: "Is this the life I want to live?" Aaaand that should do it
I don’t get between meals, not sure why people do eat between meals. Not a snacker. Don’t buy junk food in the shop, you will hate yourself when you get home but it’s not available to munch on
Beats me I never Needed motivation to do things in life. I’ve always been able to just do things.
Because doing things has never been impossible because I’m not a paraplegic.Find a reason, for some it’s to stay around longer for the kids for others it’s just simply to look better. Whatever reason that matters enough to you
