i think people have always suffered from mental health problems but it's only been defined and taught about in recent decades/years so i think it seems like a much worse problem now because more people are actually diagnosed with it due to the power of science and medicine now, plus social media and life in general now causes a lot of harm

Oversubscription of behavioural meds. In other words higher doses than required and prescribed when not required.
Ritalin for kids started in the 1990s. 1in4 women are on antidepressants. Nearly every mass shooter has been on SSRIs. My great grandmother described how she and other women were prescribed diet pills to help them lose weight and have the energy to look after the kids. It was basically speed, they were all out of their tree and addicted.
Now that insurance covers a lot of this stuff everyone is on meds. I think people are not any crazier than they were 50 years ago it is just now people are no longer embarrassed about it.
There's heavenly people and people with shades of evil disguised as having metal heath problems, that's always been the case.
