I think the BMI chart is not standard to all race, and all sets of people with their genetic types or pre dispositions

80% of black women are obese and they'll be real fast to say BMI chart is racially biased against them, but the average weight of a woman in Africa is 132 lbs.
Most people think those of us in shape are too light because it's so common for them to be seeing fat people everywhere they go and so uncommon for them to see their feet.
I used to be obese. I'm now smack in the middle of ideal weight range for a U. S. Army Ranger (which I am not, to be fair). I'm not a huge guy. I CAN do one-armed pullups (only three), one-armed pushups (40 on each side), and routinely do marathons and half marathons wearing 34lb body armor, so when the 300lb land whale says I'm just skin-and-bones, I take that with a grain of salt.
I think medical BMI charts are ridiculous. I think if doctors had thier way we'd all look like marathon runners. I'm 6'5" and it says I should weight between 159 and 210. I graduated high-school at 210. I once got down to 175 and it really affected my basketball playing negatively. I got pushed off the block much easier than when I weighed more. I'm somewhere between 240-250. I'm overweight. But I feel very fluid on the court at 240. So I think I'm just going to keep rolling at that weight. Besides I like fried food too much. 😂
@ChiTown33 The fact that you're staying active is a really good thing!
@Jamie05rhs well I try to. I broke both feet 2 years ago that has really slowed me down. I've been relegated to to recumbent stationary bike. It kind of bums me when it starts getting warm out that I haven't been able to.
@ChiTown33 Holy shit! How did you break your feet? Skateboarding accident?
@Jamie05rhs no I'm not nearly that cool.🤣 The first one I broke moving a elliptical machine. My stupid ass dropped the back end of it on my foot. Then I broke it again falling at work. I won't go in to detail as that's even more embarrassing. I got a boot and was told to stay off it and since I had loads of sick time anyhow I took it easy for a bit. Then first day back to work (hadn't even gotten the boot off. Though it was 85% healed) I slip and break the other one. And that one I broke bad enough I needed surgery on it. (By the way i had worked at that job for 23 years. And never had an accident, never broke a bone in my life till 2 years ago. So done think i'm injury prone. But It would be great if it ended there but it didn't shuffling back and forth between pre-op appts. I caught covid. So what started out as an outpatient procedure landed me in the hospital for a month in quarantine. And since I needed a lot of rehab, even after I was discharged, they concluded my home wasn't safe with my staircase, so instead, I got sent to a nursing home for a couple weeks of additional rehab. I really pulled up the avg. age of that place. It also taught me I NEVER want to be in that position again. I still have problems with my feet. I don't completely have feeling in them and it difficult to walk barefoot. I know I couldn't play basketball currently on them so I don't try.
@ChiTown33 Whoah! That's crazy, man! That sounds like quite an experience. I'm so sorry. I bet you were miserable for a while there.
But hell yeah. That's the spirit!! 💪✊
Yes. A healthy weight is what is considered appropriate given a person's height. For example, I'm 4'9 and a healthy weight for me would be 74-80 lbs at best. However, I am only 66.4 lbs currently, which is underweight and not healthy.
Bmi is such bs. I'd have to be 80-90lbs to be considered a normal weight. How many grown women do you know that are 80lbs? Probably not many
@Juxtapose yeah exactly. I'm 4'10 but I'm not gonna weight under 100 especially after having 4 kids
Exactly If you add up all the factors, it’s just not accurate.

in my opinion, people make a lot of excuses. BMI is not entirely accurate but it's a good guide. I've seen one which differentiates between different body types and that's probably better.
American's are 2/3 overweight and 40% obese.
Let that figure sink in...
BMI is garbage. According to BMI a friend at the gym is morbidly obese and I am either borderline or obese, depending upon the chart. My body fat is just slightly over 9% and my friend's is about 8%. Neither one of us is remotely obese.
BMI is known to be outdated, and far from accurate.
Any power based athlete, even sprinters, would be considered overweight, because BMI doesn't take into account bodyfat and muscular bodyweight.
I’m 160 cm and 47 kg. I feel happy with this weight, maybe 1 kg less would be better so my legs can be a bit slimmer.
I like to cook, too. I think the key for people like us is learning healthy cooking techniques and healthy portions. And share the meal with others so you are less tempted to eat a bunch of it yourself.
And yes, there is such a good thing as a healthy weight. So we shouldn't be making excuses.
BMI is not worth anything. And yes comma there is a healthy weight that is not just skin and bones
It sounds like you are just trying to come up with excuses for people being fat or trying to claim to obviously overweight people are somehow healthy. It's bullshit.
There is and to say no is to me just a way to justify being overweight to oneself. Being skin and bones is also not healthy.
BMI is standard, it has nothing to do with race. its just a ratio of height and weight in detail
I already know that
Sure, if a persons weight falls within the guide line range.
Body fat percentage is a lot better than bmi.
Kinda sorta
