If your doctor prescribed a medication and tells you it will really make you feel better - then you get it home and a side effects is death. Take it?

Oh, I always believe my doctor. They're the expert. Who am I to read labels and question their authority? They would never prescribe anything that might harm me.

I always crack up at drug commercials. They'll show an actor rubbing their knee with a pained and hopeless expression while the voice actor says "If you suffer from joint pain, try Flexnaproz." Then they show the same person running, laughing and playing with their grand kids on the beach.
But then the speed reader comes in at the end. "Flexnaproz many cause sleep apnea, ankle swelling, glaucoma, hives, projectile diarrhea, gall stones, kidney failure, heart arrhythmia and sudden death in some patients. If you experience any of these symptoms, check with your doctor to see of Flexnaproz is right for you."

1. how serious is the ailment being treated?

2. are there other treatments which are as effective and have fewer side-effects?

3. How often does death occur as a result of taking the medication?

Remember that almost every medication has SOME side effects, and pharmaceutical companies are obligated to report ALL known side-effects, even if it is something that has only happened once.

The only time I'll take a medication is if death is my only alternative. Not if it's a side effect.

We were on another post together not long ago and I asked you what do we do if we are in terrible pain if we can't take medicine? But you never gave me an answer.
There must be a definitive reason why you have such an aversion to medications.

My aversion is those very side effects. Often the side effects are worse than the condition they were prescribed for and then another drug is prescribed to help those side effects. It's a money racket and the chemical companies are getting richer by keeping everyone sick.

Depends on what you have. In some situations death my be preferable. In 2009 with H1N1 sweeping through the US, Igot unlucky. I got it and empyema. It nearly killed me. Yet at that point I just wanted the pain to end. It was so bad the only time I stopped screaming was when I didn't have enough oxygen to do so anymore. When someone tapped my side, my legs literally buckled.

Is this something you caught in the United States? I never heard of empyema. So, you contracted the bird flu right?
I didn't have what you had, but with this gastro system of mine that is broken, sometimes it would burn way deep inside of me and even with morphine for pain, I would still scream.
I've been suffering with stomach problems since 1998, and still do to this day. When my stomach would burn like that I had to eat a bowl of ice cream to cool it down. I drove my roommate crazy having to make so many trips to the grocery store 🙂

Yes. Isn’t anything like that? I mean you still drive, use the refrigerator, take showers… but I would go back to my doctor if I had any significant side effects.

Probably not. Especially since most doctors are only trained to hand out drugs, not to actually help or cure you.

All drugs pretty much say that a side effect of the drug is death!
The one that I like is the one that says not to take or discontinue if you are allergic to the ingredients!

He has given this prescription before and tried to convince me it would really make me feel better. Again, it was the same medication he tried to give me a few visits ago and I told him I wouldn't take it because one of the side effects is death.
It was a prescription for Pepsid for my stomach. Or something like that. Just like all those people got suck or died from that other stomach medicine that they still sell over the counter. Can't remember the name of it now. Zantac?

That’s crazy they sell stuff like that, I used to have stomach problems but it was my gallbladder causing everything and stones , now no problems after having it removed

You're lucky it solved the problem.
I had my gallbladder removed because the doctor needed the 💰 money. It didn't help at all, because that was not the problem. Ha, I asked him if I could have the gallstones to see what they looked like. He turned red and saud "We don't do that anymore".
Went through all of that for nothing and I do need my gallbladder now. Oh well...

I had to go back three times for gall stones to be removed out of the bile duct. Even after the gallbladder was gone and they had to use a laser to blast them apart, so there were no stones for them to show me.

Man, they really put you through hell. I thought they would have just taken them out all at once.
I had an ultrasound done about 6 months or so ago. They told me I have a kidney stone in each of my kidney's. I heard that trying to pass one causes unbelievable pain. So, since I am older I am holding onto my britches hoping they don't act up before I die 😂

Yeah there were stones that they didn’t detect at the time further so had to go to hospital a few times and had anERCP done, no kidney stones luckily though but my stepdad has had them a few times and it’s bad, they can usually vibrate them apart if they give problems

Before I retired they said I was depressed. Gave me two meds. After a week I read about the side effects being potentially suicidal thoughts. I threw them away and told that puppet that he couldn’t make me take them. Sneaky low-key assassins working for the government, that’s what military doctors are.
