Hey, based on your description and picture it seems and sounds like you could have oral thrush. Thrush is a yeast infection in your mouth caused by a fungus called Candida. Some common symptoms include:
- White patches or coats on your tongue, inner cheeks, gums or roof of your mouth.
- Soreness or irritation - the areas may be raw or bleed easily.
- Trouble swallowing or eating.
- Red spots or dots under the tongue or elsewhere in your mouth.
Thrush is usually nothing too serious, but it can be uncomfortable. Some things that can cause it include antibiotics use, a weakened immune system, dry mouth, dentures, smoking or stress.
The good news is it's easily treatable. You should see your dentist or doctor - they may prescribe antifungal medication like nystatin rinses or lozenges. Make sure to finish the whole treatment to prevent relapse.
In the meantime, try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water a few times a day. Drink plenty of water and avoid sugary foods that can feed the fungus. Your doc can confirm if it is thrush for sure. Hope you feel better soon! Let me know if the meds don't help.
I don't know but maybe getting it checked out wouldn't be a bad idea lol
A second opinion.
When I first saw the white I immediately thought of thrush, a type of yeast infection in the mouth.
I have seen real life thrush before but never with red dots.
That needs medical attention.
I get concerned about infections in the throat. Doctors used to give antibiotics too much. Doctors were told if someone has an ear or throat infection like strep not to give out antibiotics. After a year or two, they discovered that these illness' need treatment with antibiotics! People were getting really sick because their infection got worse. So they changed back to giving them.
There is an infection called Lemierr's Syndrome. This is what can happen when the patient has an infection in their throat and isn't given antibiotics first.
You can look it up and see for yourself what it is.
Could be Erythroplakia or Leukoplakia but it's difficult to say without a biopsy. Red dots is just a symptoms, reason for this problems vary from simple yeast infection to carcinogenic tissue changes.
If it doesn't disappear in a few weeks you should go to a dermatologist, they are better equipped to diagnose such problems than majority of dental clinics.
