A good chiropractor can do wonders. You just need to find a good one. The problem is that a lot of them just take your money and do nothing. But the same can be said of regular MD's, except MD's take ten times as much money and still don't do anything. MD's are huge money sinks.
Find a chiropractor who is highly recommended by people you trust. Then give it a try. By it's nature, it might take several sessions to notice a difference. If you've been there a half dozen times and it seems like they aren't accomplishing anything, then find a different one. But when you find a good one, they really can do wonders, and do it without drugs or surgery.
My wife was having extreme pain in her back. Our family doctor did not consider it an emergency and would not be able to see her for some time. We found a reputable chiropractor that we went to who used moist heat to relax her back muscles, then gently pushed on some areas. He had not done any real manipulation, but realized the response so far was not good, so he did an x-ray on her spine and found crushed disks in it. He did no further work but sent her to a specialist. It was found that she had a disease that was causing calcium to leave the bones in the spine. They diagnosed a disease that could be treated to slow things down, but not cure it. She eventually died from it.
If she had gone to someone for massage therapy, it would have torn her back up. Chiropractors are actual doctors who can use technology like x-rays to safely find the problems.
Extremely legitimate!
Some are, some aren't.
I had delayed onset whiplash from an accident that messed up my neck (I was hit from behind). It was fine at first, but one morning I woke up and I could barely move my head because I was in terrible pain. After four days of this, I called a nurse and she wanted to just wait and see (no appointment, no tests, nothing). I decided to try a chiropractor that came recommended (he just did adjustments). He did one session, and the pain was 80% gone. The next day, it was fine and I have never had an issue since. I never needed to go back.
I'll just say this; be careful, don't buy everything they say, and stick with the ones who do adjustments. It's trial and error, but there are good ones out there.
Sometimes mineral deposits build up in joints or tendons, because fluids inside joints contain minerals and nutrients. I think if such a deposit happens a chiropractor can help to dissolve such a deposit with unconventional joint movements. But the reason for joint pain is in 90% different, mostly swollen and infected tissue presses on a nerve. In this case a chiropractor can't do much or just only temporary.

I used to provide massage therapy in the office of a DC. He HAD been sanctioned by the state for "over-representing" the scope of what result can be expected, particularly of supplements he sold and some more marginal Tx. Most of his mechanical adjustments seemed appropriate and within his scope of practice, though. Personal recommendations are important in your search for a good care provider. If the results sound too good to be true, though, then they probably are.
Some chiropractors believe that their treatment can cure ANY ailment. They are quacks.
Good chirpractors can manipulate and make you feel better NOW, just as a massage makes you feel better, but within 24 hours, you will again feel as badly as before. They will keep you coming back as long as you have insurance or cash to pay them.
I represent injury victims in accident cases and I have NEVER had a client who was cured by a chiropractor. I NEVER recommend them and always warn clients about chiropractors.
Some are and some are quaks that want to see you restof their life. to be fair, a lot of western medicine is a duck as well... pills for rest of your life, rather than solve problem. it's business.
I've been to ones that solved my problems at the time. This originates from chinese medicine bone doctors and that makes sense. PRoblem with it is it doesn't factor in ligimanents and muscles enough... that stuff needs fixed too... as does your brain and nervous system and habits and mattress... etc..
They do really help. their job is to help with realigning the skeletal posture.
and they do what most doctors would consider surgery with plates, screws and all sorts of expensive procedures just to keep your spine aligned properly.
My mother has had a sidways s curved spine most of her life, chiropractic care made it to where her spine realigned for the first time in her life using an adjustment gun (i can't remember the actual name of it).
My mom has less pain, less headaches, gained a couple inches in height, and sitting at her job for long periods of time doesn't cause her much pain anymore.
Also, never trust a chiropractor that says chiropractic will heal or cure anything & everything.
I used to think so but reverse hyper extension, deadlifts, dead hangs, chin ups, yoga, swimming, squats, hill sprints, and other lifts will do wonders. Pair that with a sauna or massage every know and then and you are golden. Buy a massage chair that does traction, I have researched how to get rid of my sciatica and the things I mentioned are proven to do better than chiropractors, which can likely make your situation worse, albeit so does lifting weights if you go too heavy too fast and use improper technique
Long ago, when I could only afford to fly economy class, I had to endure those very uncomfortable airline seats for many hours during long-haul flights.
The result was usually overall body aches.
Chiropractic adjustments that relieve muscle tension and correct bone alignments are very rejuvenating.
There are some who genuinely are there for the right reasons but a lot of it's a scam and a good percentage of them are super creepy.
Go down the rabbit hole on YouTube and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.
You’re right it may feel really good to be pooped and cracked but long term I don’t think it does much. It’s more or less a form of therapeutic massage.
The ones doing other forms of physical therapies among other things like that are doing a lot more help. I really feel like chiropractors just pull things out of their ass and say it like it’s official. When in reality they don’t even know what they’re saying.
I see these weird videos of young chicks in like crop tops and the chiropractor touching all of over them
I don't know but I love watching the videos on TikTok they are hilarious. It sounds like they're snapping every Bone in their body.
Yeah and they put the microphone right at it and it sounds like death.
I see one monthly, it has helped immensely in keeping mobility at least as it relates to how my bones move inside my muscles. It doesn’t relieve the pain from, say, sinus headaches but it does help with my muscle tension.
It's glorified massage and subpar physical therapy. Absolutely helpful in my personal experiences, but massage and PT are also helpful. I don't think a lot of the popping is helpful. For me, at least. The upper back popping is 100% beneficial for me though. So I just bought a hard foam roller and do it for free at home.
They can be great. I go once a week for an adjustment. I had one day when I was ~20 where I woke up and couldn't stand. My muscles contracted around an SI joint that I popped out of place in my back during a baseball game. I was recommended to go to a chiropractor, they did an adjustment and a TENs machine and within ~30 minutes I was able to walk upright and felt 100% better.
I went to a chiropractor several years ago, and he helped my back pain. His pushing of herbal medicines, though, didn't excite me.
So, to answer the question, a chiropractor can do some good, but not everything they do is good.
The theory of chiropractic care is complete nonsense. Chiropractic care has never been shown to be effective. I would never allow a chiropractor to touch me.
A lot of people swear by them but I've never visited one. They used to have a bad reputation for sure. I believe they have improved a lot over the years.
Hard to trust one to crack my neck, I'm still living my life.. 💀😭✌️
I did had some spine adjustment but it didn't really help but what really helped me is The diagnostics they found. Turns out my chronic pain is based on my mental health. I've been suppressing too much.
Yes. They are very helpful for my impinged nerves. The adjustments help relieve the neuropathy temporarily.
They are legit, but they have never been able to help me.
They must be legit otherwise who would allow them to work
I’m scare that they will mess up my joint, neck, and spine.
What the fuck is that it sounds like a dinosaur's name or some shit.
They claim they can get rid of your pinch nerve problem. I doubt that very seriously.
just like many other doctors... some are good, some are great... and some must be avoided
My uncle is. Fixed my messages up back and neck a couple times
There is a real purpose for them.
I think most are
I don’t like the sound of cracking bones
I think it's nonsense
It's really hard to find a good one
My partner certainly benefited from one
Pseudo science
Worked for me
My guess is not
no way
