i think its sloth, but it could also be hate or greed... here's more info if you want it. you don't have to choose one of these, I just can't fit all 7 deadly sins here haha.  link

Pride - it's like the mother of all sins.

It's the reason people are greedy - because they take pride in their possessions.

It's the reason people are lusty - they take pride in their sexuality.

It's the reason people hate, kill, slaughter, destroy - take racism for example, slavery, religious slaughter - people had so much pride in their beliefs, their ideas, their customs, that it hardened them, and in turn, drove them to do the horrific things they did to other people who didn't see it their way. It made them stubborn to reason, inflexible, illogical - all because their pride made them feel like they were 100% right in doing the horrible things people have done.

It's the reason people are lazy lol - they don't feel they really need to do anything for whatever reason - which can be pretty prideful / selfish. Why work? When I can just sit around and sleep all day? I don't need to do this or that because of whatever selfish reason - I'm too good for it, it doesn't really matter - etc

It's the reason people are gluttons - taking pride in their indulgences.

It's a big factor in why people are envious - I deserve this because I'm me - they don't deserve that - I should have it because I'm me - I'd say that's one of the best examples of being prideful.

I think what makes " evil " radiate from pride so well, is that it ultimately shuts a person down - from reason, from emotion, from spirit.

And those three things are pretty much all we are...

Sorry I meant to say Hate but I clicked Lust sorry that was me :/ So another vote for hate. Because hate is mostly sprouted from ignorance and I think that ignorance is the root of a lot of horrible things in general. When people are ignorant they will follow blindly and to me that is scary. So hate/ignorance I suppose.

None of the above. Lack of empathy is the single most cited reason for evil. Everything else stems from that. People don't even realize it - but when you talk about the Wall Street bankers, they rarely talk about the AMOUNT of money they have, but more they talk about HOW they gained that money - by swindling and stealing it without caring about the people who were losing their homes and livelyhoods. No one talks about Bill Gates, Carlos Slim, or Warren Buffet because they made their money honestly and didn't directly (and un-empathetically) destroy people's American Dream.

Lack of empathy leads to just about every "sin" that you mention here, also, when you think about it. Lust is an un-empathetic version of love - you don't really care about the other person as anything more than an object, so on and so on.

i think  "weakness", is the root of all evil, people would rather take the easy way out, form their problems instead of taking the time and doing the right thing, for example, stapeling your stomach instead of working out and eating right, you cut so many corners that you get use to it and when it comes to dealing with problems with other people and yourself they rather insult the person or hurt them to get their way or take a drug or medication instead of doing the hard part and looking at yourself and working on it

In terms of myself I would definitely say pride is my downfall. lol I can't bear to have my pride hurt or be beaten at anything XD But hey, life would be pretty boring if we were all perfect!

I'd say Envy. Simply because if we were all content with what we had, we wouldn't go around starting sh*t. Plus it leads to the other sins!

Lust: What a babe... I wish I was their mate and not that other person.

Hate: They have EVERYTHING, I hate them! 'I wanna be like Barbie, that bitch has everything."

Sloth: They sit around all day, I wish I could do that.

Greed: They have all that money...and I don't!

Money is the root to all evil, but girls are also evil, I study a lot of math (engineering program) and this formula proves it:

1) Girls require Time and Money so:

Girls = Time x Money

2)we know that Time = Money so:

Girls = Money x Money = Money2

I do not believe evil exist, only that we perceive events to be that way. In a nutshell, anyway. So yeah, there is no "root." But if there were, I'm sure it wouldn't be a singular source nor the seven "deadly sins."

Also, whoever made that list of sins should've proof read. I mean, is being lazy really more sinful than say, necrophilia? Cause according to that sh-t, it is. I guess they could add an addendum stating, "thou shalt not fornicate with thy dead neighbor," or something...

I said hate. Greed is more of a natural, survival type of thing. Of course, we can be selfish under different circumstances. But, I really think hatred is something that's intense, fills you up, and leads to evil.

Other than that I'd say its a tie between or combination of fear and ignorance. that encompasses everything, including power. power is rooted in peoples fear of someone/something to a certain extent, it legitimizes dictators, etc. when masses of people collectively decide there is no fear or at least not enough to keep them obedient, revolution happens.

ignorance is a part of what can and often does allow "evil" to exist (if such a thing does exist, that is).
