What was the reason why you had to go to the Emergency Room at the hospital 🏥?

About a month ago I received something that I had ordered online and when it finally arrived from Hong Kong, a piece of the corner was broken (it's plastic).
I was so disappointed that I asked my friend to buy me some SUPER GLUE. I said make sure the word super is on the tube.
So he comes home with something similar but it wasn't SUPER GLUE!
I tried it and it didn't work. He had to go back and buy real SUPER GLUE this time.
Meanwhile the other glue I tried was drying on all of my fingers.
Then when I was fixing it with Super Glue - it was drying on all of my fingers and thumbs as well. I was stuck!
Then I had an allergic reaction to this glue that was stuck on both hands - and on all fingers.
I started getting an anxiety attack from the allergic reaction. It was time to call 911?
Can you believe that the hospital didn't have any Acetone to get the glue off? They couldn't help me but I did get a bill from the ambulance 🚑 company for over $2,000!
My friend dropped me off at home and brought some Acetone and with a lot of my elbow grease I finally was set free!🙂

About a year ago, I was getting ready for bed at 2:00am. I was standing at the sink, about to brush my teeth, when I felt my nose running. I realized that blood was coming from my left nostril.
I have never been prone nose bleeds, so this was weird.
I tried tilting my head back and pinching my nose, but it kept bleeding. In fact, it started bleeding like a faucet in a steady stream, backing up into my throat, and coming out my other nostril. It was a freaking mess.
No matter what I did, it wouldn't stop.
About two hours later at 4:00am, my wife wondered what I was doing, got out of bed and came into the bathroom to find me.
She helped me to dress as I held my nose with tissues. Then she drove me to the ER. Even though I was trying to hold my nose closed with tissues and spitting blood into a plastic bag, I had blood all over me by the time we arrived.

They stuck a epistaxis balloon catheter up my nostril. It felt like they shoved a pencil up my nose, but once it was in it stopped the bleeding.

There's more to the story because it took days before my nose suddenly stopped bleeding and went totally back to normal. Nobody has any idea what could have caused it. It wasn't from blood pressure or an injury. Bizarre.

Fortunately, my Medicare and supplemental insurance covered all the costs because the ER bill was crazy.

About a year ago I developed serious carpool tunnel syndrome!

If anyone knows anything about this horrible disease, it is extremely Painful.
In the United Kingdom the only way to get rid of it is to have an operation that costs a roundabout 3 1/2 thousand pounds and takes approximately 15 minutes to perform.

One other extraordinary aspect about carpal tunnel syndrome is that it is hereditary. My grandmother had it my uncle has it, in both hands, his daughter had it. I had it and now my brother has it in both hands Ekk.

The recovery time after the operation takes approximately 6 to 7 hours for the general anaesthetic to wear off and once it does wear off, you’re gonna know it! There is only one specific painkiller for this, Yes, you guessed it.

the last time was when I broke my leg on a fire call.
There have been a couple other times, but the vast majority of the times, multiple times a day is to transport patients there for care.
And yes, emergency care is not cheap, wait until you get the bill from the ER.
This one is clearly on you, using your fingers to mess with super glue, not a wood toothpick or something similar while wearing gloves.
I'm thinking lesson learned, (a very expensive lesson) and you will not make that mistake again.

My last trip to the ER was for a tetanus shot after I got cut on a piece of metal (and couldn't verify when my last tetanus shot was).

Prior to that was for abdominal pain that my wife was convinced might be my appendix based on the location. It was not my appendix thankfully.

I've also been to the ER for a concussion when I fell on ice getting off a school bus as a kid.

Never took an ambulance for any of those thankfully. My insurance right now has no copay or deductible as long as I'm in network, so thankfully both visits in adulthood were completely covered by insurance.

Last year I collapsed on my kitchen floor head first , and luckily my kids’ watched it happen and they immediately called 911 and called my wife , My kids’ kept trying to get me up and all I remember was hearing their voices coming from a distance because I was in some pitch black place , as they were yelling Dad , over and over , I heard their voices getting closer and closer to me , it was the weirdest thing , eventually I opened my eyes and my son got me up onto a chair , before the ambulance arrived. I refused to go on the ambulance because of the outrageous bill , so my wife drove my to the ER and they gave me ex rays , and found out my Gall Bladder was infected , so I had surgery that night and was in the hospital for 7 days after
That so they could monitor me , since it was infected badly. I am better now but that was some scary shit

Where was this hospital? Every emergency room I have worked in has supeglue removal agents. Not acetone by the way it is toxic. It is a citrus agent with glycol ethers cheap. A 20 dollar bottle will last years even in a busy ED. Plus you can use it around mucous membranes safely. Not sure where you were going for treatment but definitely not a major hospital.

In college our team was scrimmaging the highschool boys varsity team and I ended up getting a concussion and whiplash from a knee to my head 😞 It wasn't the guy's fault, I was trying to clear the ball out of our zone and he came out of nowhere and blocked it. I ran toward him and my stupid teammate didn't see me and tripped me up just as he took a shot on goal. I fell head first onto his knee just as he kicked. To add insult to injury, he scored 🤦

2 years ago, I was knocked in the head by a shipping container door blowing open. I was standing far too close. Concussion, fractured maxilla just under my right eye, and 3 broken ribs from when I landed at the bottom of dock platform. Overall took about 2.5 months to heal everything

I haven't been to a hospital ER in years, and only twice in my life. Most recent was 25 years ago when I had severe abdominal pains. They kept me overnight in the ER and dismissed me without finding anything.

I've been many times.

I was struck on the head with a large rock while playing in a forest, ran into a concrete lamp post on my birthday , been hit by a metal missile thrown from a building site by a friend , needed stitches in my finger when I punctured it as a kid, was put in hospital after being beaten up by a pair of thugs on the way home, broken ankle twice. collar bone once, nose once and ribs a couple of times.

I fell from a height and ended up getting a broken hipbone. Freaking hurt like hell but it's been over 10 years. I'm glad it happened when I was really young as my bones healed and got stronger soon.

okay, in many towns they do charge for ambulance runs. However , most towns do not want seniors to not call an ambulance because they cannot afford it. Around here they will send one bill and one statement and then write it off.

I would’ve used acetone or nail polish remover immediately not go to the hospital for that. The only thing I’ve ever had to run to the hospital for was a gallstone problem and then I had my bladder removed.
