Trending & News I assume you changed your diet. Our body, like any good logistical center, has different rules for different goods. It can also use different food for different things.
At a random guess your total input/output is either roughly unchanged but the weight is going into more flattering places. Alternatively your body might have been missing certain things to make it want to build muscle and now it has those things. Being overweight often means you get a lot of muscle very easily. Especially when paired with beginner gains.
We can't really do more than guess based on what you gave us but that is my guess. You used to only give it Z shapes in tetris and now it is getting I, L and more. So it stores it better and you can score some points.
That's perfectly normal. Muscle material is denser (weighs more) than fat.

When you gain muscle, it is heavier than fat.
Have you tried turning fat into muscle though free weight lifting? It will tone the fat
What are you doing in place of a workout to gain muscle? It doesn't happen on its own
