Is my new doctor causing ‘first world stress’ by screening my family?

Our family physician is retiring after 35 years and our new prospective family physician wants us to fill out multiple page medical questionnaires for each member of our family before they decide if they want to accept us as a patient. If one of us has a significantly unusual medical history, they might automatically reject our entire family for being a high drama patient.

Our family doctor can send all his new patents to a new doctor which will also be Chinese and amazing, the problem is he lives an hour from our home because we got him before we changed cities.

Do you really want your doctor to be a person who isn't interested in caring for patients that may have an unusual medical history? Ask your current family doctor to recommend someone closer to home. Explain that it isn't practical to travel two hours to see the one.

In the US, we tend to have a "primary care physician" who coordinates all of our care If I were to develop a symptom, I'd go to her and she'd evaluate my condition, order tests and so forth. If the condition was unusual enough that she couldn't effectively treat me, she'd refer me to a specialist and together they would come up with a treatment plan.

You need a primary care doctor who is accepting of any bizarre condition you may present with. It isn't their responsibility to treat every condition known to mankind. That would be unreasonable and honestly a recipe for a poor outcome.

Medicine is an evolving science - What methodology of practice exists in 19th century like blood letting and so on is not in existence today. Homeopathy etc. have been debunked. Hell medical practice 5 years ago is no longer relevant in 2026. So your new physician is simply maintaining protocol as advised to him/her. This isn't some big conspiracy theory people make it out to be. Its the same with COVID. When it was spreading like wild fire these internet fear mongerers were clammering on about how we need a vaccine. When a vaccine was made in haste (obviously flawed cause no one can perfect a vaccine in 1 year it takes at least a few years) - these same internet influencers be it left/right started yapping how it was all a big conspiracy theory and the government wanted us dead. Like people not everything is a conspiracy and science isn't magic. It works based on protocol, and new things are discovered everyday and people who work in these fields are humans and can be flawed, they are simply trying their best.
