Yes you can live.. my friend only has one and she had it removed years ago. She's my age, 19 as well. She's had one for at least...4 years now or more?

All you have to remember is the kidney's function...the kidney is basically the filter of the body to get all the crap out. Alcohol also effects the liver and kidneys badly, and it is strongly strongly strongly recommended not to drink. So, I guess what I'm saying is if you've got one kidney, think about what you're putting into your body and try and be sensible.. if you're 17 you're likely to want to eat junk food and stuff, but try and keep a limit on it...

Also, for a bit more of a definate answer, consult a doctor for the specifics.

This is very discussable question.On the side junk diet and liquor drugs and etc.

You should discuss with doctor your family history,if some in your family have some kidney disease or a disease that is relevant to some of kidney disease.And most important for you is to check is your other kidney in a condition that can work alone for years...Best of luck

Yep. You just have to limit how often you indulge in the 'fun' side of life (booze, junk food, etc)

Yes you can live with one kidney. Your second kidney will increase it rate to make up for the loss of the second kidney. Your urinary system should function relatively normally. It might take a few years off your life, and if your 1 kidney fails for some reason latter in life, you have no backup.

Sure, many people do. You have to be a little more careful with your diet and a little less physcially active but you can lead a 'normal' life

Anyone can live with one kidney, they need to take EXCELLENT care of themselves though, eat well, NO BOOZE, NO DRUGS or else bad things will happen, probably death
