I have spent most of my life alone, but I kinda like it.
I had lots of friends during my school years and we were always doing something and going places. Very busy.
It never bothered me to go to a restaurant and be the only one at the table. I wasn't there to put on a show for anyone - I was hungry!
At around age 25 until 30 I remember feeling lonely and wanted to have a love relationship. Sure I dated but it never turned into us becoming a couple.
As far as feeling lonely in my old age, since I have been alone so much of my life anyway, it doesn't bother me. In fact it's peaceful.
Like others have said, I enjoy my own company - even as a young girl I had my own bedroom and it was my sanctuary. I was always inventing things to keep me busy and entertained.
Having a good social network is important but people also need to know how to handle being alone sometimes.
A lot of people are even uncomfortable sitting somewhere and eating alone, and that's a problem. You should be able to travel somewhere you've never been before by yourself, enjoy your own company, and learn how to have fun alone.
Loneliness can actually be a kind of luxury that not everyone knows how to handle. If you can manage it well, life becomes much easier. But after a while, you can also get too used to it, and that can be unhealthy too. The important thing is finding a balance.
I love being alone. I can do what I want whenever I want and without having to ask someone or to ensure that my decisions do not interfere or upset someone else.
There is a difference between feeling (and being alone) and loneliness.
Despite living and beeing alone my entire adult life, I do much prefer it than to be in a crowd or having too many friends. That puts pressure on me to perform and having to do things I don't feel like doing.
Loneliness is something totally different and probably happens to elderly people much more often after they lose a long term partner. That can be the downside of being alone when you reach a certain age.
I always say you are never alone if you have imaginary friends & as for my imaginary friends they’re giving me the silent treatment. As for loneliness sometimes I think it’s wonderful & other times not so wonderful. I love my freedom, I love my independence & I love that I can do whatever I want & whenever I want as well. On the other side of things sometimes loneliness sucks & I’m sure that will chance when that special wonderful someone walks into my life, I hope she’s not a chatterbox.
I used to get lonely.
I don't really, now. I'm more kind of battle hardened.
Plus, I like my own company. I have my own spiritual practice.
Now I like company for the sake of enriching my existence. Not filling my loneliness.
I’m alone for hours every night at work. Sometimes I like it, sometimes not
Hello if you feel alone, you can talk to me 😊
Sometimes it can be good
How so?
Boring and peaceful together
