Would you feel comfortable with a male technician assisting with your mammogram?

It's breast cancer awareness month. According to a recent article, many facilities have men assisting with the procedure of providing mammograms.

No, I would not feel comfortable at all, mainly in view of my age and if that male is in the same age group, this would cause a certain uneasiness on my side.

Thankfully, I don't have yet to do those mammograms given that I have no history of any breast cancer in my family, relatives and recent ancestors. Also, not being sexually active, I have no reason for the next 50+ years to perform such as mammogram.

If I ever would have to do it, then I would ensure that the technician is a female and not a male.

Don't wait too long. Check for the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations. Then, consider being checked by 30.

No, my stister had to get checked at 19 because of a lump and a male doctor and his student made inappropriate comments on her body. Saying for a woman of her size, she had rather large breasts and had a "lovely little waist".

I'd have a tendency to agree but I wouldn't think it would be a male or female issue. Mentioning that her breasts size may be larger than normal for her size may have also been for medical reasons too.

I can appreciate preferring a woman assisting with a mammogram but, when referring to periods, I think that's the territory of a gynecologist.

I generally prefer female doctors and technicians, but I'd be okay with a male technician too. I might feel a little shy or uncomfortable at first, but he's just doing his job, and I'm sure I'd get over it lol
