How would 1 go about working out with a jump rope? I believe I'm over thinking it haha
And what should one look for when purchasing a rope?

Trending & News theyre both great workouts, though running would be easier for most people as they can go for longer
with both you can adjust speed/intensity, so you shud try doing both methods of cardio. Switching methods of cardio (and with any exercise) will "shock" the body and it won't be so familiar with just 1 method. They both utilize the entire body and require core strength to help stabilize the body.
when buying a rope, the handles shud reach right under your armpit (while you stand ontop of the rope in the middle of it)
for wrkouts with ropes---- speed jumping, intervals (30sec high speed...1min normal speed), steady state jumping, alternating foot jumps, etc...
Jumping rope can be awesome, so can running. Try jumping rope for 2 minutes, break, and do it again about 2 more times. Then go running.
Its about keeping your heart rate up. Jumping rope will be the equivalence of maybe sprinting, as opposed to long, sustained heart rate of running.
That sounds like a very good idea. I plan on doing jump roping as my warm up, so for how long should it be done, the intervals I mean? About 10 minutes total?
Yeah not too long- it doesn't take that much. When we were in boxing we would do 3 30 second ones, and 3 2 minute ones with the last 10 seconds going as fast as you can. For the 30 second intervals, jump as fast as you can.
oh! As I was revising my workout plan I was thinking about trying jump rope hiit, high intensity interval training. Do you think that's a good workout? I would do it on Tuesdays & Thursdays and on Mon, Wed, Fri I would do something else
That sounds fine, it doesn't have to be super intense. Just don't forget to neglect your strength training- weight lifting, resistance training, etc.
They use different muscles, and jump roping isn't quite as good an aerobic workout. It's hard to combine them.
Get yourself a rope with weighted handles, so yu'll be doing arm weights while jumping. That sort of combines upper and lower body muscles.
Actually jump rope can be just as good an aerobic workout. A possible explanation is because of the difference in direction of travel: Jogging carries you far mostly because of your momentum traveling in the same direction.
In jumping rope, you are constantly changing the direction of your momentum (up and down), thus ensuring maximum impulse to your body.
Invent the running rope excercise or something
And as a personal preference I would suggest running over jumping rope

jump rope any day of the week man...cuz while running you could get sloppy and jog with low intensity but with jump rope its always intense...actually...both is not a bad idea...switch it up
if you're going to do one, you might as well do the other.
Especially if you want to rope, you'll want to run as well.
I heard jump roping for an hour burns 1000cal.
