as fas as cold gear goes, the tighter the better. wear leggings made specifically for running in the cold instead of big baggy sweatpants. same with on top, try not to wear hoodies that'll just flap around everywhere cause that gets annoying. and dress in layers! wear two or three thinner items of clothing instead of one thick one, because then if you get hot (as weird as it seems, you do get hot) you can take a layer off. try to keep your hands and ears warm. your feet will probably get wet if you're running through snow so in that case you wanna stay away from thick socks that'll get heavy. and if it's ever at an in-between temperature and you can't tell if it's really cold or only kinda cold, wear leggings, gloves, something on your ears (I find those headband thingies more comfy than hats) and a short sleeved shirt. the cold air feels good on your arms sometimes. and also when running in the cold your lungs will have to work differently and it'll feel weird so just give it some time to get used to it. have fun! (:

Hmm how about an attractive running partner? lol Or you could buy a dog...been shown their owners are more active than those without...as everyone said, dress the part if running outdoors...you could also look into running at a gym! I get more motivated seeing people there!

I am not big on running, but I love to bike. When it is cold out (plus the wind speeds when I get up in speed) I make sure to have on a light jacket to allow me to breath easily that keeps the wind out. And I actually wear shorts still when biking along with the under armor underwear shorts. Though, my nose get's very cold!

I usually just try and keep it so I can move and breath, because the harder you run/bike, the more blood is pumping and the warming you will get! So just keep the blood pumping.

Enter 10-K runs. Even if yu're not really in racing shape, it's fun to people watch, check out the exhibitors, and psh yourself as much as you can.

Dress in tights to keep your leg muscles warm, and get out of he cold as quickly as you can when you're through running. A massage after running is not only fun but can help avoid cramping after the run.

To stay motivated just remember; your metabolism will be sped up and your performance will increase due to the lactic acid build up taking longer. Therefore, better results.

As for what to wear. Plenty of layers I suppose. Maybe you could opt for generic running gear and a bin bag over it, the material (and color) traps the heat, makes you sweat tonnes.

    under armour does wonders. seriously.

also, stretching is even more important in the cold.

motivation wise, I know it doesn't help a ton, but I've found that actually getting out there is the hardest part. especially with cold weather.. once you're out there, you're fine. plus, the "chillyness" is invigorating (I think.)
